If any of you read Speed issue(014), you would recall. A R34 GTR, beautiful car owned by Graeme Dousset.

Well sad to say, but i woke up watching the news and saw his car in two pieces. 2 guys and a girl died. THe car was completely ripped in two. THe engine was separate from the car and the body was all twisted up. I couldnt even tell it was an R34 gtr until the news said it was a nissan skyline, then i recognised the Work Meister rims.

It was confimed on SAU that it infact was EVLR34.

It was Graeme's son that was driving the car.

My condolences to the family and friends. My feeling go out to the families left behind.:(
We can only be relieved no innocent other cars were involved in this accident.

This happened in a 50km/hr zone, how the car got ripped in two, we can only wonder what speeds they were travelling at.

Please everyone, especially the younger guys like myself, uni/ school holidays are upon us, please slow down and think of your family and friends.

We have great facilites in sydney now for racing off street. WISD, Eastern Creek, Oran park, wakefield.

    Safe holidays people.

    Regards

    Michael

Sad, though here is a different prespective

It is sad to hear that three young people died in such a crash.

But given the pictures of the resultant car, I would estimate that that car was doing 100+km/h above the speed limit ... which translates to three stupid idiots who should never have received a license in the first place. The driver is an absolute moron for doing such speeds in a BUILT UP AREA (that is what a 50km/h is) and especially with passengers. The passengers are idiots for not standing up for their rights and ordering the driver to slow down and stop the car.

You may be feeling sorry for these kids that lost their lives ... but to me the real tragedy is for the father (the owner of the car). It is obvious from the picture that it is a beloved car. Not only has he lost his son, I would not be surprised if he also loses his marriage and possible "contact" with his family.

"IF YOU DID NOT BUY THAT GOD DAME CAR !!!"
"IF YOU DID NOT HAVE THAT CAR HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SHOWING OFF TO HIS FRIENDS".
"IF I DID NOT BUY THAT CAR".
"IF I ONLY PUT THE KEYS IN A SAFER PLACE"
    "IF ONLY ..."

I feel really sorry for the father and the other parents. There kids are dead, but they will have to live with that pain for years to come.

    --------

Why does the government not have the balls to band P-Platers (make that under 25 year olds) from having such cars as Skylines, Supras, Silvias, 300ZX ... there should be a power-to-weight limitation which is inforced. The number of skylines I see with a big red-P on the back.

Now I am not saying I was an angel when I was young, but when the kingwood was pushed passed 100kmh upto 130-140 you could feel you were going fast and handling was getting squirmish. But these "modern" sports cars (even being 15yrs old) are another thing; when they let go you are going to hit hard.

just went through the rip on sau.....

most people are more upset over the car. Come on get over it it was just a car. but 3 people lives are wasted and a baby will never be born.you can not fix that.

After driving semi's for too long I know what its like to know you have killed some one ! It might not be youre fault and you tried your darnest to stop the dickhead from committing suicide under my tralier.

The only thing will say is. " where are you childern ?" " have you told them you love them?" " and please book them a defence driving course for Xmas"

It used to be die young and leave a good lookng corpse.
Now it is , Die young and let the fire'ies wash the remains of you down the gutter.

    What was he thinking :(

2 people entrusted their lives to him and look what happened :(

Very sad. Nothing can make up for what happened. 3 people paid the ultimate price for a few seconds of thrills. I dont know what was going on inside the car though but I find it hard to believe they would have been egging the driver on at those speeds. I hope everybody learns from this event and keeps the reckless driving off the streets. :(

I hope the families and friends of those lost can eventually get through this hard time.

News said he was doing 160kmh

the pictures of the car are like it got ripped apart by a tank.

P.S. I did not say this, but a car is just a car ... the loss of the car is nothing compared to the damage caused to three families.

    I was once a P plater!

I admit im not the best driver, nor is my cousin in his skyline. But do we deserve to have our cars taken from us?

TO give an example, when my cousin got his car, i wanted to test his ability to judge. i edged my cousin on to test his new car out on the freeway late at night. while we were in the car, this is what he said. "mike, i dont want to be perceieved as a hoon, and this car scare me" that take guts to say and admit.

who here can admit that when they were young and driving a sports car, they admitted to be unsure of being able to control the car. Whoever can admit that is a champ!...no ego bull$it.

I think that is a very unfair and bias opinion. I know plenty of mature age people that speed way past the speed limit and are close to suspension. Does that make them safer then p platers. Dont blame the youths, blame the education system for the way they teach young people about roads.

If a 6 yr old child misbehaves, we dont blame the child, we blame the parents. I say the government should stop the revenue raising with its useless licenseing tests and put youths through proper driver training, ie. the effects of tailgating, not checking blind spots, emergency braking and steering. practical experience of drink driving.

Oh and my cousin and i are off to Eastern creek on the 7th of dec, im pretty sure the majority of the forum memebers here have not done defense driving either. so rather then target youths, i say educate everyone!

Oh btw, for everyone out there that reckons p platers are rude on the road. well i will tell you why if you dont remember from your youths. Its because with a p plate, people try to run you off the road and treat you unequally on the road. nobody says thankyou on the roads anymore. so thats why p platers pay back.

But for some reason, as soon as my p plates came off, instantly im equal on the road. jeez p plate must = im not worthy!

Im sorry for anyone that reads this and its not directed at anyone. Steven you and i have a great relationship and you have helped me out alot of times. I just feel that the way you see p platers and young drivers is exactly how 95% of all mature age drivers feel.

Plus im having my exams at the moment and am very stressed out. so dont take me too seriously.

    Thanks

    Best regards

    Michael.

Sometimes I think 4wd sports gives a false sense of security

I think alot of people think that 4wd, LSD, Active Yaw control et al, makes up for general driving skills and common sense.

I hope this will serve as a warning for other reckless drivers

    RIP

    sad indeed

Notice none of these locations are within an hour of the central coast. And also that wakefieldraceway is only a three hour drive through and out the other side Sydney. Not that I'm complaining.
Since both Newcastle, Hunter and Central Coast regions aren't doing any thing to prevent or improve the situation, we will unfortunatly be going to see more of this.

  13. Pic of what it used to look like ....

As fellow coastie, the news hit hard i just couldnt beleive it when i heard it on the radio...

I have been blessed with seeing the car in in its former glory at the SAU show and shine day that was held at Mingara Rec Club and it saddens me to think that it aswell as its passengers have been tragicly taken away... damn what is there to say ...

I am now running the following pic as my wallpaper for the next week as a mark of rememberance and respect to those lost in the tragic incident i know its not much but my thoughts go out to the families and maybee yours could too ...

I dunno , but here it is .

Please people , Take It To The Track .

    I'm still a P plater too

(just dont need to display them anymore so I blend in nicely) but to be honest, any wheelspinning or fishtailing scares the s&#t outta me. Because I dont like being not in control. I have heard of people who absolutely LOVE it when it rains becuase they could take their crappy cars out and drift around corners, slide, lose traction etc. They have no respect for their cars, themselves or any other road user

    Re: I was once a P plater!

Interesting response to the thought of losing your car; maybe a few others should think of that next time they decide to do 90-100-160 in a 50 zone.

There is a power-to-weight with motor bikes, then why not with cars.

P-Platers and young drivers should be band from turbo-charged cars.

Yes, older drivers do speed to; but you wont find many (if any) drifting through the shopping district.
I live on the edge of a shopping area and I hear and see then all the time; the gearbox-racer-popoff-valver; and without a doubt there is either a red P-plate or the backward-cap male youths.

There is a big difference between speeding and speeding ... 160kmh in a 50 zone aint speeding ... it's premeditated murder.

As for there being no drag strip with in cooee of the central coast (and not claiming it as an excuse by the writer of that statement); I am sure there is some deserted roads and not just a 50km zone.

small group ruin it for everyone else

Why is it when 1 p plater stuffs up, every other p plater is looked upon as a criminal. It was stupid for him to be doing 150+ km/hr in a 50 zone, no one can deny that and its sad that 3 pple died because of it.

i bet more then 75% of forum memebers have done more then 150km/hr + but i sure your still alive from either lucky, on the freeway or you did it under a safer environment ie dragstrip. road conditions play a large role. if he had done on the freeway, i reckon he would still be alive, but sadly thats not the case.

To me, all it means is that evolution is still taking place. survial of the fitest. if you want to put yourself in a dangerous position, well up to you if you want to end your life prematurly.

i reckon i see more tradesman in there SS commy utes and xr6 turbs/ vans speeding then i do see youths, i get plenty of middle aged b@g*ns along the northern beaches that always want to drag and smoke their tyres. its just that more mature drivers know how not to get caught. you will see young people doing burnouts out of maccas and KK, i wont deny that, but thats like the same guy that goes there every fri/sat/sun just to show off. whats that like maybe like 10 cars in the area that do stupid things, as opposed to like 500 p platers with in the local area.

I see more mature age men speeding in my area then p platers. plenty of m3, 330ci, 911, boxters and alfas driven my older guys. its just that they speed in more open areas and around bends where they know they cant get caught.

I even saw a mature guy beach his 991 turbo on the roundabout 100 metres from my house. an slk 230 beached the wrong way around on the footpath.hehe

the older you get, improvements in driving are only marginal. what you become really go at it, getting around the law and how not to break it.

I agree with shifter, we are all still p platers, we are all still learining about the roads. you will never know everything about the raods. there is always something new to learn.

what our society is really good at is making excuses. when something goes wrong, all we know to do is point fingers and conclude the unreasonable. why dont we think clearly and change the way we educate rather then just blame certain people in the community. if we wanted a crime free, death free society, then we shouldnt exist. wouldnt that be easier. just blow the whole place up.

I bet the animals in this world are thinking, what on earth is wrong with these human people, they consume too many natural resources, the pollute too much, they are destroying our earth. you know what why dont we just eat them and try control their numbers as they are destroying our natural resoursces. these humans are pests.

isnt that an interesting way to think about it;)

oh well back to study, enough stress relief.

More to this story than the media will report...

...because the young driver pictured smiling on the TV news was something quite different in real life for many locals. Well known to various people who live near the father's address on the Central Coast he was someone who probably had a short life expectancy anyway.

After just a few years on the road, knowledgeable sources inform he was a dangerous show-off at most opportunities with a shocking driving record already writing off a V8 Commodore then a different Skyline as well as losing his licence for a period, then this last event wrecking his father's car while father is currently overseas on business.

A sad event for many reasons as people have already commented. Also note the family was already split up for before this tragedy.

I wonder what, if any, of the blame will fall back onto the father in this story? I wonder if the civil case one assumes will be brought by the family of the young 15y.o. girl will make the news?

And people like that make the standards

    For P platers

Banning them from high powered cars wont stop people from behaving recklessly and driving fast. I know one guy (no longer on P's as well) Who always drives bloody fast. For example, 160k/h in a little 3 cylinder charade. I asked him how well it handles at that speed and he said 'like it was falling apart'. Mind you he also has a very nice high powered sports car which would handle much better at those speeds. I know which car i'd rather he be silly in!

You cant stop people from behaving stupid no matter what car they drive. Recently here in the ACT 2 young commy drivers were spinning the wheels, hooning and driving like maniacs into a main road which cause a motorcyclist to run off the road killing the pregant female pillion and causing spinal damage to the rider  The morons in the commys weren't even licenced (were suspended and never renewed) Obviously no curfews, restrictions, even licence suspensions would have prevented this :(

The part of the brain which deals with consequences for actions isn't even fully developed at 20, which is why some young hot blooded P platers can take such stupid stupid risks. :(
