Hi people,Just want to let you know that my car is no longer with us, but in a trash heap after a serious accident. The thing that saved the driver and the passenger's life was the roll cage that came with the car. Otherwise, the car is a total wreck (it went offroad, through trees, rolled over several times).I am shocked and brokenhearted. The car was not insured, nor was it driven on a daily basis. The driver is deeply sorry and is willing to make up for it, but he is unemployed and I think it is as good as gone. Thanks to the guys on this forum,of who I've enjoyed chatting and meeting up with. I don't know if I can afford to get another Z (let alone a nice car), though I still haven't given up the hope of getting a nice 2+2 one day.

Sorry to hear dude...

But I think there is a lesson we can all learn from this...Never let others drive your car, especially those whose driving ability is questionable.
Even it this is your best friend or girlfriend.Where did the accident happen ?:(

Ohh man.....

after all you went through to get it, and now this! It was so damned nice! I dont know who the driver was and for all I know it may be someone you care for so I wont make any harsh comments, but if the person went off road because they were driving like a maniac then I would be extremely, extremely, seriously pissed off. Best of luck dude and I hope it all gets sorted out...:(JEDI-77

I'm sorry to hear that Sam.......>>

Is any of the car salvageable? Could any of it be parted out to try and get some money back or to be put aside, in case you do manage to get another Zed? If there is anything I can do to help just drop me a line.

Not the beautiful blue coupe, that was to nice to be written off, makes me sad thinking about it.
Salvage what you can, sell it off, use the money for a deposit on another Zed and start again, you know you wont be happy with anything else but a Zed. sorry for you Sam.

Devastating news Sam! :(:(

That was a beautiful car.
I suppose we should feel good that no-one was hurt ( at least that gives you a chance to kill them instead ).

So sorry mate (maybe you can get a TAFE College to rebuild it as a training exercise for apprentice Panelbeaters) I have known that to be done many times in NSW.

Did the driver live in the Thomastown area

I saw a beautiful blue Z, looked very much like your one in high street Thomastown (mind you he was turning right into a street where its no right turn )

Sorry to hear the car is no longer with us, but could have been so much worse in terms of life and damage to other vehicles/property.

End of the day its only a car and they can be replaced!

Regards

I don't think so

If it was the same car, it wasn't me. It could have been my brother. Did it have 5 spoke wheels? If it did, probably was him.

Thanks guys

I haven't even see the photos of it yet.All I know that its gone, and I'm not sure if we can claim anything that may be worth something.I'm glad someone hasn't asked me for spare parts yet as I was not really in the mood.I'll post the photos when I get them, though I suspect they won't be pretty. Basically I learnt something, no matter how much a car means to you, its the person inside that you should be worrying about. Initially, I was shocked, but later I'm glad that the car didn't catch fire or went off a cliff (a no hoper there). Like Markga said (thanks mate), you can always replace a car, but never the people that you may lose. The roll cage saved my brother's life, and I think he will never touch any of my cars again without my permission.

Your right ===>

Yeah its stupid not to have at least third party, cant afford the insurance cant afford the car as someone once said. This could have been worse had the car hit a Benz or gone through somebodies lounge room.Even if there was insurance on the car, my policy doesnt allow anyone other than me to use the car otherwise they are not covered so he still would have been screwed.Something good can come of this, all the other guys here who dont have insurance put your self in Shiris place, no more car and even if the car is worth only 15k or so thats a lot of money to lose, for me anyway.Again no one was seriously hurt so the loss this time was only monetary, very lucky indeed.Perhaps Shiri, tell your bro to take out Tattslotto this weekend with his luck he may win it!RegardsMark

Easy...

the guy just lost his Z by no fault of his own. I don't think we need to analyse what could or should have been done to prevent this.BTW, comprehensive insurance is the only way he would have been able to get anything back and for some people it isn't a feasbale option, me for instance. You can't possibley tell me that paying 5 grand a year for comprehensive is a feasbale option.

$5k is unrealistic

For anyone with out a surname of Packer to afford.Again though, you do have the resources to check what insurance and running costs of the car before you purchase it.I would be pretty pissed though if an uninsured car hit me, I am sure anyone else on the forum would be as well. Not having insurance is ok so long as you can pay for the damage you inflict on others, myself I dont have $30,000 in cash around so if I wiped off a new commodore in my Z I would be screwed!!Money wont replace a life or loved one however and thats the good thing about Shiris bros situation, no one was hurt.Maybe even comp insurance wouldnt have covered this event either mine certainly would not have.RegardsMark

I know exactly how you feel Sam

A few years ago when I had my first 200SX my bor took it and wrote it off big time. A Holden HQ Kingswood veered onto his side of a 110km/h Freeway. My Bro tried to swerve but still got hit. The 200 fell to bits with it's crumple zones and the HQ had as little as a minor dent in the front guard. My Bro left with minor scrathes and bruising whereas the the HQ driver had a broken collarbone a broken arm and two broken legs. It's just very tough to take the call from the hospital that your bro's been hurt. Chin up Sam your bro's ok salvage what you can, then look rof the next Zed.
