Under the nose panel, on the driver's side. Absolutely. First step was engine coming out, that happened last Sunday. Drove the car over to Emile (MoulaZX)'s for the first (and last) time since the engine blew up. Copious amounts of smoke out the rear, but I didn't care even a little. Maxed the stereo, kept an eye on oil pressure and had a blast. Plenum, radiator, power steering pump and all related came off pretty quickly. Since the NA power steering was already in place there was no need to pull it off (yet). This time 'round I wanted to keep the gearbox in place, which meant spending considerable time attempting to learn how to undo the top gearbox bolts... Engine came out towards the end of the day, after going out for tools, food a few times and Emile wiring a SAFC into another member's car. success, with blood everywhere haha. the next day the engine was stripped of all components down to the bare block and I ferried them home. I need more space to store all this stuff! been planning in my head the next step for the last one and a half months. keen to start. bring on the hard core tucking and shaving... -A
ah yes i saw you talking about that before... i was thinking a better location would be next to the brake booster since you dont have the small fuse box etc in that area no more... plus its higher than the pump ...
Contrary to popular belief, the reservoir needing to be higher than the pump isn't actually relevant to the function of the PS reservoir. And moving it to another place in the bay defeats the purpose of moving it at all... It's a simple task of cutting/welding the fitting coming off the power steering pump to face towards the front of the car rather than the firewall, running hose off of that then bolting the reservoir under the nose. Here's a pic I just snapped for you showing the fitting on the pump that needs to be modified. The section the hose slips over needs to be facing the other way.
thats pretty cool thought itd need to be higher but thats good... what hoses are you getting? just large transmission oil hose that fits the size ? or something specific ?
