Car is coming together like 2 sweaty arse cheeks. Are you going to grind off the mounting points for,the hicas and everything else for that oh so smooth look?

Oh and smoked side indicators I think if you are keeping the black methinks

    hey hey!

I think that's a good thing? yeah, thinking about it. TBH I'm about 80% sure I'll do it, I'm just really concerned about pulling holes in my bay trying to remove them:

Indicators staying cear. Car not staying black.

    shit just got real

it's been a long deliberation process, but I just ordered my new CSL-R lip wing from WINFactory

I didn't like this thing at first but I've come to the realisation that it's perfect, and exactly what the 2+2 needed all along. I've ordered the CSL-R, "competition sport lip - race". i.e, the bigger one.

i'm going to cut it out at the back for an OEM third brake light panel before molding it seamlessly to the hatch.

Looking the goods mate. Would definitely be smoothing out the wheel arches. I know it's going to take some work and most probably some welding skills. But the final result will be worth it...you know you want too ;)

Thats funny I have been debating on the winfactory spoiler for months - on the website though it says the below - can I ask what your freight cost?

I have been looking at a VT senator Bobtail spoiler to use as a base and modify heavily for the rear as it has a flat straight edge, is filled in so I can work with that down to the boot lid tail light line, has a nice arch to it, and is potentially under $300 for a fibreglass one to start with. Haters will hate but the look of the ducktail / bobtail looks great on a 2+2 IMHO

    Msg from Drivenauthority website

The Wings are coming out slowly but current orders are being filled and shipped! I would like to thank everyone currently waiting on their orders for ALL their patience in this lengthy process. Also, we are working on finding the bests shipping price as Fedex is $240 for US orders, so Grey Hound may be our US shipper. International orders and shipping are postponed as shipping single wings is not cost effective at nearly $1000

are you kidding me? of course I want to! but it's out of the question at the moment. if I smoothed them they'd need painting, along with the rest of the bay. which means welding up each and every hole while the engine's out for god knows how long - not an option for the time being, seeing as I'm a student with only one car. as is I'm in a bit of a pickle - if I'm smooth what's visible and paint what I can with the engine in, half the bay will be black and the other half grey, which is obviously shit. if I repaint what's visible black it'll be a bit of a waste of time as it won't match the car. still wort thinking about, though.

in a few years if I'm feeling it I'll be building a forged motor, at which time while the car's empty I'll tuck each and every last wire out of sight completely, smooth the bay and have it repainted the the colour of the car. That's a long way off though. If I'm going to do it, I'm going the full mile and will be building it to compete with the red one from NY. I'm going to be very happy with it in the relative short term once everything's powder coated anyway :)
You know, oddly, I support this. I think it's got excellent potential, but it's sure as hell going to be a lot of work. What's the width of the spoiler, to start with? It'll be a pretty big PITA to widen it.

Check the drop down menu for quotes on the Driven Authority site - the latest update in text was put in approx. 3 weeks ago after I was in touch with them. They were still exploring postage options at that point, and have since enlisted Coz from CZP to handle their international orders. $355 postage through him.

Not getting sent for a month or so, so anyone who wants a set of side skirts or something will get them sent for half as much!

    powder parts

keep getting bugged about this by people, and with good reason...

my stockpile of parts to get sent to powdercoat is growing... just got a pair of polished water pipes from Procky which I'm happy with, saves me a lot of time smoothing them myself.

That's my manifold as it was on my motor. Bosses coloured in in black are all going (and it's already shaved of some), plus some I missed. I picked up another manifold yesterday which I'm going to hack at hard to test the limits of shaving some parts of before I'll go all the way through. Fun times!

Good stuff man, looks exactly the same as my stockpile of parts for powder coating. Just cleaned up my own cam covers today, going to a powder coat place tonight for a quote :)

Can't wait to see this, coming along very nicely!

Re Coils and spark plug leads. As per RB30, would it be worth having remote mounted hi power coils on firewall or under battery tray or plenum runners with 8mm HT leads to plugs?

This way you could completely smooth the plenum runners and conceal coil wiring with new stuff and no cracking coilpack plugs. With hi power aftermarket coils, would there be any performance difference? or once running colder plugs and "performance"coils say on the firewall or under battery tray?

Just thinking of the ultimate cleaned up VG30DETT

My favourite engine bay and colour scheme at the moment is this one too , so simple and clean!

You can pull the stem off the Oem coil packs and remove the tension spring and carbon brush leaving only a copper cavity that you can insert a modified high tension lead into. This is what I'm going to use when I build the new efi engine for our rally car.

Failing that Holden v8 coils are a good substitute.

Powder coating engine bay components is an absolute indulgence, and that's an understatement. Due to the ridiculous cost involved of powder coating candy's, despite my growing parts pile I won't be getting them done any time soon. Like, post respray unfortunately. It's just a stupid use of money - that $7-800 covers dyno tuning, or an immobiliser install and then some. Sad, really, since despite my work with that grungy old plenum the bay's pretty bogus. Got some new stuff happening in the next week though so we'll see how it goes :)
Eh, not for me. There's minimalising what's in the bay, but then there're components which can be appreciated for what they are. The coil packs I think fill the plenum slots up nicely, and once their brackets are powdercoated will probably look quite good doing so. I wouldn't want the clutter of running six 8mm leads through to under the manifold, either. Even if they came through the firewall... no thanks. It'd look empty.

Civic looks good. I'm much more of a a fan of copper though, that would look supreme. It's contesting my current plans highly.
