Hey guys just been doing a quick search on carsales and although i have no intention what so ever of selling it seems to get a half decent zed these days costs you like 10k+ everything else looks like its been raped by rice or just plane worn out with crappy paint and body.

    Is this correct?

I think what you're seeing is over-expectant prices on carsales. :p

The vast majority of Z's sell for less than 10k

Prices are still dropping:(. K-zed and Keiren have dropped their excellent zeds well below what they should be able to get. Also I've seen a number of good manual NA sell for around $5000, which is good for people like me thinking of getting back into zed ownership, but insulting all the same.

I've been watching the market since selling mine ( for a good price as it turns out) and thinking of getting a project NA.

Zeds sell on the forum for less than what they do on the outside world. It seems that zed owners expect to pay less, and often they get put up for sale during a time of financial need, which doesn't help.

Its hard to tell. The price really is a reflection of the car. I recently sold my NA for 10 but it wasnt your everyday NA...

ill be looking to spend 8-10 on a TT and im more than happy to for the right one.

Most of the Z's on car sales that are much above $12K have been there for more than 6 months.

its hard to say , car prices seem to be random as ive had cars for sale at significantly less than the others on carsales and still had trouble getting rid of them but then again with my old ute i got absolute top dollar straight away . There is no logic in any of it .

I saw a 1984 300ZX NA in "very good condition" for sale in the paper the other day for $7000, dreaming much?

Yeah I'm gutted when I look at whats around vs what I sold my TT for... There is heaps of POS neglected zeds bringing the price down... Unfortunately, when you look at carsales or similar, all the zeds look to be in good condition also till u actually go and have a look, so it's hard to ask for a higher price based on better condition when the photos of the POS look the same.

The zed I'm looking at buying now is priced at 11k... It still needs work ffs :/ I guess if u get lucky, someone like me might come along knowing what the mods would cost to do myself and appreciate they have been factored into the price... That being said tho... This guy has had the car on the market for almost a year...

Agreed, with Z32's what you get for every $1K added is an exponential relationship.

Yes but you are a minority and also appreciate the time and effort that went into such a car... Unfortunately, most of the buyers out there won't pay even close to that... :( Very sad, but true...

Can anyone mention any zed that sold for 15k+ in the past year?

I do believe that the forum has a lower selling price than lets say carsales when it comes to zeds priced between 2k and 10k but when it comes to zeds which exceed 10k, it appears that only forum members would be prepared to pay a much higher price as they are aware of the money spent and required to get a z to the next level...

to be honest i think the market is great! the 300zx is such an under rated platform. the amount of car you get for under 10k is just superb (for a decent TT). after market parts are plentiful. i cant see why people are complaining unless they paid too much for the car in the first place, or have emptied a bucket load of cash into one and expect to get most of it back?........

Come on old chaps cheerup. I was offered fourteen thousand a few weeks back while I was out buying some guitar strings. It's not even for sale!

Two years ago the guy who installed my transmission offered twelve thousand. :D

When I bought my NA in 2008 I paid seven thousand and sold it for nearly ten thousand.

If we all keep telling each other the prices are low its only a matter of time before we all believe it. :)

Build it tasteful and they will come.

Disagree, from what I've seen it's the riced out pieces of shit that sell for the most on eBay or CarSales.

    Omfg and u declined!

Just think, u could buy a zed with a blown engine for 2k, spend 4k on paint, 6k on engine and turbs and have a freakin beast! :D

Definitely still on the way down

Same with most of the Nissan performers unfortunately. The high priced zeds don't sell, on ACT carsales there a crappy veilside one for like 20k and that shit aint going anywhere anytime soon. Even the R35 market is suffering, there are mint GTR's at 120/130k and they've sat there for quite literally 1 year + (yes I am following the prices closely:drool:)

If it were that easy and I had the time and room for something like that I guess.

Your mind is completely set on the buying side. Yes, it's a buyers market for Z's, but they're as good as tattoos. You either commit for life, or spend more trying to get rid of it.

I also believe rice sells for twice the price! Grab a shit patch job NA that's nearly falling apart, slap on some black ford steelies with second hand chrome hubcaps, order a full body kit from Carmate, bolt down an aluminum "race wing", slap some shiny bright colours on there and as long as it looks like something out of a Just Cars Insurance ad, it'll go for $15k to the first idiot P plater who doesn't even know the first thing about cars in general.

    $10k profit. :D
