LOL yahh thats what i was wondering too, but the benefit would be the engine space and unlimited modifications

It's all governed by the "Power to Weight Ratio". Do the Math(i.e. Vehicle weight divided by Power output = Power to Weight Ratio. eg. 3000kg divided by 290Kw = 10.3448kg per Kw).

The higher the kilogram weight per kilowatt, the slower the car will be.

i recon it would be easy enough , but it would be the biggest step backwards . even when a sr is in a light silvia it has nothing on a vg

okay so figured out that it would take alot of work and money and even when its done, the power gain prob wouldnt be the same as the vg but it would have alot more room than the vg and unlimited parts. lol gonna stick to the vg and make that better

The VG makes more power and torque. And even makes more torque than most straight 6's. So i think putting an SR in there, at least without being heavily modified would feel kind of limp? Personally i'd rather stick with the VG, as there is quite a bit of aftermarket support for it as well. It's not as if we don't have the parts available to make more power from our VG's, more just a matter of money, so in saying that I couldn't see any advantage of using an SR, cept maybe more engine bay space.. but for what? may as well fill it with something bigger.

Still though i'd be interested to see what the results are like if you were to ever go through with it. Could have potential?

I cant even imagine talking to anyone that would consider that a smaller engine designed for a smaller car would be suitable. You keep saying 'unlimited parts', but what do you mean? A VG can have unlimited parts, an SR can have unlimited parts.. a VH, a VQ an LS.. any mass produced engine in the world can have 'unlimited parts'.

    I think your on drugs.

you could push the zx without an engine faster than the SR would power it.

even if you win lotto dont bother, unless you want the slowest Z ever?

about as smart as putting a 13B in there. :bash:

mine is a N/A atm.. on my P's..sux

i would buy a stock TT engine and swap it over then buy all the aftermarket FMIC turbo's injectors etc.. or sell mine and buy another TT Zed dunno... probs swap it over for the experience i guess

    how about you put a vg30 into a 180/silvia.

    that would be killer.

Theres a reason very very few people put the VG into a 180sx.

But yeah sr20 in a 300zx is a waste, your going to too much effort to have a very underpowered engine for the car.
LS1 would be a better swap, along with vq30, vh45

    why??

dont see any problems with it..

besides size difference.. (but it will still fit)
    gives alot more torque..

might even be a better drifter then a sr20.
