Sorry these are a bit dirty, Ive decided no way I can give my car the bath she needs tonight so I will wait until I get her back for good.
Thought Id post some pics of the interesting parts that recently got installed. Things done to the car not pictured include the new 4.10 tt diff gear, power enterprise superstrong timing belt, new high grade bolts for the pulleys, throttle bodies rebored to 55mm and plenum flowed, plus upper and lower plenum all port matched to the chambers. Finally new sard 800cc injectors.

Heres the external wastegates. Internals are stuck open. Jury is still out on these atm, the tuner has doubts as to if I will have problems clearing enough pressure but certainly holds boost well so far. Wastegates are set to open at 22 psi, with motec controlling a hi low setting will set high to 30 psi if possible.

Another pic with the new kitten wondering whats going on

Heres the new swirlpot and high flow pump to ensure good fuel supply

Added some nitrous for some extra cooling on the drag strip. New design of my own, off boost nitrous for cooling the intake before runs :zlove:

Heres the bottle heater and stuff...

    Bottle...

    business end...

pressure gauge, needs to be recessed a bit more...

Heres the mess of stuff inside the centre panel. Will be tidied up a bit later to make sure airflow is ok. Includes the nitrous solenoids as well as the aquamist water injection.

new HKS SSQ blow off valves...

Heres the controller. I was keeping it stealthy under the ashtray but it got broken while trying to fit enough switches so we ended up doing a panel like this. Without the flash the material is a bit darker and blends nicely. Will probably swap the switches for black ones so they dont stand out as much, plus do the labelling properly. Few more buttons needed also.

Finally the defi gear. Just a boost gauge for now, will get some more down the track.

    Sorry for the blurryness...

Finally the defi control unit. Will eventually go where the clock is and hopefully look stock.

Well, still got a bit of work until finished and finally tuned. So far it appears to be making boost about 500 rpm quicker than before. Damn quick to drive and very hard to keep traction. Will keep you informed.

will wait and see the final hp figures. Should do mid 10s with good

    traction i would think.

    "Internals are stuck open"???

Wouldn't they need to be stuck closed?

Nope, look where the wastegates are....

they are in the dump pipes not the exhaust manifolds so they need to be open not closed. If the internal gates were welded closed then the wastegates would never see any boost pressure and you would just keep building boost.

    Impressive.......>>

But how do you go for ground clearance? Both the wastegates and the swirl pot look to be sitting slightly low.

so let me see if i've got this right....

you have the external gates plumbed to take exhaust from the internal gates of the turbo? i suppose this will allow you to run more boost (you were having issues maintaining higher boost right?), but wouldn't it make more sense to have wastegate gas go around the turbo instead of through it (as is normally the case with external gates)?

edit: guessing you've gone this route cos of inconel manifolds.

Now I understand, I couldn't tell that from the pics ...>>

I also understand the mech's concern that the wastegates might not flow enough. If the only problem with the stock gates was not holding enough boost, then it shouldn't be a problem.

    Good luck.

    Looks good, Some questions/advice >>

The way you have the swirl pot feed to the fuel pump may prematurely burn out the fuel pump. The outlet of the swirl pot should be higher than the fuel pump itself so it is gravity feed and doesn't need to draw fuel against gravity since high pressure fuel pumps are crap at self priming. Also I don't see an overflow from the swirl pot to the fuel tank for when the low pressure pump is feeding too much fuel to the swirl pot. I assume you have another low pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank to swirl pot.

I can't see from the photos but you must have a split dump pipe setup to put the tial wastegate in the wastegate portion of the split dump pipe. Does this mean your tial wastegate sits inline with the wastegate splitter pipe in the dump pipes?

My thoughts exactly... Also do you plan on hiding ANY of that stufF?

I am sure the epa and cops here in melbourne would have a party with your car if it ever got pulled over down here in VIC :p

Looking good though, can't wait to see what it runs!

    How about..>>

You defer your long posts until YOU have driven a time less than 13.5 which is what most stock Z's can achieve .
