G'day I'm currently building up my 300ZX and an aftermarket ecu is needed. I have no real experience with aftermarket ECU's so I'm open to all options. I know its then just tryin to find a Dyno Tuner that I can trust, Im on the south coast so again any one with any suggestions please let me know
Forged bottom end, ported manifolds, heads, cams, turbos, intercooler, fuel system everything I could think of
sounds like your either a dreamer or rich ;p If your doing all that, get a WOLF 3d managed setup. Costs about 3k all up. Or get a HiTECH ECU. There is 3 * 300rwkw+ cars on here (including mine) that run it. And a few more 270rwkw+ thumbs up to it.
I'd say there'd be more 300rwkw cars on here running socketed standard ECU's lol Or if you are rich, pay 3k for a wolf:bash:
Im looking more for 400-450rwkw. Im just after recommendations, what other people have tried and what works. I don't mind spending the money as long as it at least worth it, but if it's not... I'd perfer to be able to have 3 maps on hand rather than having to handle a stupid amount of power everyday and have it able to handle a nitrous setup in the future
I have used a few tuners around canberrra, IMO they all sucked, couldnt do what i wanted. Got recommended Hitman in penrith. i was more than happy with his tune. he is a haltech tuner and knows his stuff. give him a call. (the car i had tuned wasnt a 300zx it was a laser turbo)
hitech is a good ecu that alot of people can tune....wolf from what i heard is harder to get a tune, as not alot of people do it and have to do a course to tune it properly Ryan
There are more Mictrotech tuners out there than probably any other breed. And they're reputable for high output engines aswell. I haven't personally experienced these ECU's, so i can't comment on pricing and/or which models to look at but i'm sure many others on here can testify. I personally have experienced a Wolf3D ECU and would NOT recommend them. If you want to stick with a stock ECU, you'll need to get something like a Nisstune done to it. Believe it or not the stock ECU is quite powerful, but also limited to some point. For those power figures you're chasing, i'd be looking into an ECU that can control fuel to each individual pot.
theres a 350rwkw here running a socketed ecu ,woops, that isnt on your coveted dyno chart is it ,down you go another place lol Benny, did you get the 300zx tshirt, ours arrived yesterday, top stuff
power fc if your near UAS. or a microtech getting a stock ecu chipped and tuned is between 600 and 800 depending who u use getting a microtech tuned costs 130 a hour !! plus tons of workshops use them
He does everything. On my car it was daily driven i took it to him to get it over emissions test. i said while you there can you setup cold start for canberra (you need it bad here) he was the ONLY person i found who could do it. it isnt perfect but its pretty close, starts still fairly easy, warm start is perfect. i took it to him with bit of a tune done here in canberra, and he refind it. I got close loop. close loop boost, cold start, idle. all setup. he mostly only does haltech and knows them inside out. He isnt the cheapest tuner out there. but he is one of the best. One of the canberra boys is gonna get a haltech in the next coming months by hitman, its fairly stock. stock turbos cams etc. unless you need one sooner see what his results yeld. I got, injectors. 15psi. custom manifold, gt28rs custom dump. 3" to tip. few other bits here and there. made 185kw.
Getting a microtech tuned as UAS was one of my options just becuase of there experience and I have heard a lot of good things about it.
I would not recommend a microtech on anything but a rotor. Very low resolution mapping. Wolf is not worth a cup full of cold water. Haltech do a plug in ECU that will save alot of money in install. Nistune will do what you need unless you want extra outputs to control n2o, 2 step etc.
