Haltech have just released the new plugin for the z32. My car in in there this week for the firmware test before release.

As for a tuner I would recommend Tweakit Performance. The Owner is an ex employee haltech and knows them inside out.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Uh-huh.
Well, Ive been using old MT-8's on both FJ20 and E15et's for many years and I can guarantee you you cannot determine either engine had aftermarket ECU's
With some patience, both these older sequential ecu's are cheap, perform well and are easy to install and tune even for dummies.
Microtech ecus's come already configged for your application and are as close to "plug and play" as you can get.
On road tuning is extremely simple with sufficient tuning parameters to satisfy very serious tuners with a tuning handpiece rather than a laptop interface which i find rather wankie and clumsy to use on the fly.
I just carry around a handpiece with me for any adjustments i feel like making at any time.
However, Microtechs are not able to be re-configured to suit other engine CAS setups and must be sent back to the factory to have this done at a premium cost
Another trap for the unwary is any further features and auxiliary inputs and outputs to control various functions such as idle steppers, purge valves , boost controllers and so-on must be specified when originallyordering the ECU.
Its a real trap for new players with Microtech. They will charge handsomely to enable these features whereas other ECU manufacturers usually ship with these various functions enabled depending on the ecu spec.
Just add your hardware, enable the various control parameters in the ecu and away you go.

I also use a very old T series EMS on an E15et and the only giveaway is, and Im seriously fussy with slow run and cold run tuning, is a slightly choppy slow speed running mostly due to a single channel ignition and injector trigger system requiring a distributer and batch fired injectors.
Easy and fast to tune on the road with a handpiece once you get used to the tuning interface.
EMS clobber has a very good reputation, is affordable and can be fitted by a novice.

My current clobber is an Adaptronic 420c ecu on a VG30det.
A very sophisticated, powerful and capable ecu employing full time adaptive closed loop fuel and ignition control.
AFAIK, altho Motech and Autronic et-al do offer closed loop fuel control in a learning only mode, no brand of aftermarket offers FULL TIME adaptive fuel and ignition control where the ecu re-writes VE tables on thew fly. hence the name "Adaptronic".
Traction control, launch control, purge valves, closed loop boost control are just some of the features of these extremely affordable Aussie made ecu's
Only tuneable with a laptop tho and the ecus come kinda "bare" with no pre-loaded engine configs and must be setup totally from scratch.
Not a beginners ecu and certainly NOT for the feint hearted to install and config!!!!!
Tuning software, called "WARI" is simple and straightforward to understand and includes those wanky 3D fuel and ignition mappings which I personally find distracting.
Id much rather work with the simple X & Y tables and i largely ignore the 3D maps.
My ECU cost me around $1200 including a loom and a 3 bar map sensor.

    Thats my experience.

im guessing nistune are only for TT?

been looking into these but no one seems to have a definate price, or a location in melbourne that can fit and supply them?!

the haltech ps2000 seems like a good choice for zeds. covers everything and the stock stuff like a/c loading and cold start etc, check out the website. im gettin one in the near future, lookin at around 3k for the chip/install and tune. moving upto qld possibly so if anyone knows of any good tuners in briz/gold coast area, would appreciate it

Generalised ECU recommendations are pretty much worthless, who's tuning your car? Talk to them and ask what they have the most experience with and go with that.

I would personally use Haltech for best bang for buck, It can control everything, from fans, to variable valve timing, to boost control, nice software, you can even wipe out that nasty Air flow meter, the huge huge problem with microtech is you have to replace the Nissan CAS wheel with one of there's. With haltech you can easily select the Nissan Trigger wheel in the software. Microtech you have to wait weeks for for them to program the Base Map. Haltech you can use the simple base map, get a wide band O2 and tune it yourself if you are good with knowing how EFI works.

I've got the Moates Ostrich which is an ECU emulator, cheap ($175 US) and uses stock bins that you can tune at will rather than having to reburn a chip. I know quite a few yanks use this with their 300's but I'd check first whether they have the rom tracing working which came with v2, I've got the Ostrich v1 which doesn't have that unfortunately. Otherwise I'd probably go with Nistune.

Don't go shopping for an ECU. Go shopping for a tuner.

From what i've read on forums it is as if for every 10 good tunes there is a bad tune, for every company. Find a company that knows especially the Nissan systems and see what ECU they use. Plug ins in my opinion aren't always good. Full stand alone wiring would in my opinion beat any plug in to old crusty factory wiring harness. It just depends on what you want and what tuner you decide to go through.

We are talking with Haltech, who are keen for us to work in with them on their new plug in computer. It sounds very good and can use AFM or MAP, and has lots of features.

Another option that works well, especially for the price, is a Super AFC. It only controls fuel and a little crued, but does 80 % or more as the much more expensive computers.

We use Nistune which is good bang for buck.

Power FC are a good thing, as easy to use and has a nice hand controller, with displays and logging.

We helped develop the plug in Microtech and are good, but have not improved much at all for many years.

Re tuning we find rarely can a car simply be tuned, as often issues with fuel, or spark, or air leaks unfold, and need sorting.
