Cheaper running on LPG isn't worth the initial outlay now that the prices are up around half of unleaded. My mazda bravo has factory fitted LPG. Fom a 60L tank I average 410k, 6.8km/L. My brothers Hilux 2wd unleaded averages 650k to its 60L tank, 10.3km/L. There is still a benefit, especially considering I average around 800k p/w. You need to be doing alot of k's to make it worthwhile.

Mine is straight gas so no comparison to performance on unleaded, but it feels like it is making half the power of the hilux.

Buy a Hyundai Excel. El cheapos are everywhere. Anything little with a few cylinders. Keep the Z locked up for the future. The price of Zeds aren't going anywhere fast, they're already low:D , well most of them:zlove::zlove:

But then again, a steady slow foot and you can save a shit load, use to get alot of km's to my old VN from nana-ing it.

The $3k LPG kits (IN WA!!!) are almost exclusively for falcons/commodores and Magna's as well as a few commercials. They are cheaper because the installers have huge amounts of experience with these cars and integration is simple. I doubt you will able to get a $3k install into a Z.
The cheaper LPG systems are also a simple carby setup, but the carby's are very restictive and if you have a TT are not worth considering because the blow or suck through setup is a nightmare and the tank will probably shut off at high power.

I have mod approval for a twin turbo V8 zed and I'm running it on LPG, however my LPG tank flows over 550hp and the LPG system is a sequential gas injection setup, but this is not a cheap option, especially when you add my need for twin converters and much thicker copper line. I didn't choose LPG simply because it was a cheap fuel, normally an LPG install is poor form in a sports car.

Was thinking of doing this ages ago but no one will touch the 300zx since no one has experience doing it and they also want alot more money which I found wasent covered by a rebate (only the fords and commodores were) massive hassle, would love to do it though, really nice high octane rating and SO much cheaper than 98 octane fuel.

    ?

The vehicle has nothing to do with the rebate.

In NSW the rebuate is approx $1800, and a nice liquid injection kit with doughnut tank will set you back $4k.

    Really?

Lots of places I rang wouldn't even touch the 300zx, lots of places even told me it doesn't qualify for a rebate. Just going off what I was told from the LPG fitting places.

Straight Gas should equal if not better the performance of petrol if it's tuned right. Dual fuel is when you see a compromise on performance with LPG.

Not with straight LPG systems now days. Straight LPG systems use direct injection to the manifold. We put a Roman system on my dads 2003 Forester (NA gutless thing) and it gained 5 kw over petrol, run cleaner and smoother and dam alot cheaper, with LPG in some places at 40 cents per litre.

Worth looking around at these systems now for sure as they are getting better and better all the time,

the cheap LPG systems are still shitty throttle body injection setups, but injected LPG has been available for a long time, it's just more expensive. Liquid injection is even better again but much more expensive and car specific. Also to help with people searching the setup you described is sequential injection not direct injection.

    Yeah still

Cant find a place to do it, even MRC wont do it for 300zx's.
