I'm ON IT!! And I shall continue it tomorrow.

Was going to do a midnight to early morning vigil just in case they're moving at night - but I've got a job interview in the morning. :( But as of this arvo I have petrol money and I'll be on the prowl over the weekend. The times and locations shall remain classified LOL :)

Yup, any prevention is good, the more the better - make sure you get a ZID !!!

Regardless of what protection you have and what car you own, not much will stop someone with two things ...... a flatbed and intent.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Definitely agree... if they want the car they'll usually get it whether it means putting it onto a tow-truck or waiting for you to drive the car, and jacking it then.. BEST protection is insurance imho...

    ... and a crowbar ;)

That or put a blood stained machete on the passenger seat, that will make them think twice, and the police as well.

You are right, if they want your car they will take it. My only disappointment, as a generalisation, is the lack of police interest in these issues.

Me 2. When mine got broken into they didn't even send a car out. I got the "Well, we can't send a car out to look at it - but I've recorded the details - Here's your job number".

I know it's early days - but any news back on this stolen Z yet?

I think I saw it this morning. Was heading toward Dickson. Didn't get close enough to see the front end or the plates. I would've followed it but I was running late for my job interview :( Sorry mate :(

Went for a cruise through the area for an hour or so afterward - no luck.

Maybe...but the geek in me knows that things can be done about that. You can get advanced alarm systems, but you could easily build your own.

All you need is a small, low power consumption computer (similar to a router for instance) that can detect shock, has GPS and a phone.

Hell, with an old Laptop you can have a shock sensor send a wake-on-lan signal to the Laptop, then have the Laptop start broadcasting its GPS location....for example. If I had the know how and inteligence to do it, I'd have hidden Cameras, GPS, phone home, you name it.

Without all of that, I'm confident my car won't be stolen without a flatbed. But I want to be confident that I'd find it if it were stolen with a flatbed.

    Any update on the car?

FYI, another import has been stolen this week in Canberra. This time it was a Jza80 Supra with plate number yfm 60k which was stolen from Palmerston. Please keep an eye out and contact police ASAP, white Supra's are easy to spot in Canberra due to their rarity.

Everybody, please get immobilizers and lock your car doors!! I think i might get a steering wheel lock tomorrow.....:mad2:

No updates on my car -- Seems like the AFP could care less.

Sorry to hear about the Supra too. According to that thread, the car was stolen from Sky Plaza -- this is pretty much exactly next door to the southern cross club where my car got stolen from. -- the culprits must be from that area or targeting that area.

Also, with regard to rarity, there can't be more than 5 odd Gunmetal grey 300ZX's in canberra.

Damn ITD sorry to hear man. I remember seeing this car when I was passing by ACT 8 months ago to grab the strut brace off ya (thx for that). I remember how tough the engine setup was, hope you get it back dude. Seems alot of zeds are getting vandalised (like mine twice)/stolen/hit n run these dayz. Mine Zed won't see daily driving anymore or parked on the street for long periods of time, safest place for it is sitting in the garage after it comes back from the panel beaters.

    UPDATE....

Got a call today from the police. The car has been recovered after being in a "serious" accident. I haven't seen the car yet, but supposedly there was very large rear/side impact to the car and it's not a happy chappy....

Will update when I know more.... Apparently it has to be held for up to a month due to an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Sad news. However, I hope those that stole it now will feel the full feather weight of the law. Well done to the police, it took a serious accident to find the car......
