hey all you budding zedders out there.

just need a little help here. It should be pretty straight forward, but i could be wrong here..

I'm after a big brake kit for my aus spec 1990 300zx NA.
    - im not taking it to a track.
    - it's purely for looks as it eventually will be a show car.

    anyways UAS sell this :

UAS 343MM BIG BRAKE KIT FOR NISSAN 300ZX

    KIT INCLUDES:

343MM SLOTTED TWO PIECE ALLOY ROTORS
    HATS
BILLET ALLOY CALIPER ADAPTERS TO SUIT FACTORY CALIPERS
    CAP BOLTS
    CUSTOM FERODO 2500 PADS
OPTIONAL CUSTOM DS3000 PADS EXTRA $100
    note not recommended for motorsports

    what im wondering is:
    1. will these fit my zed without modification, i.e ( TT rotors )
    2. are these only for the front wheels? ( the picture shows only 2 rotors )
    3. can these be fitted to the rear wheels ? ( hence buying the set twice )

    so please no
"why bother it's an NA pice of shit."
i know it's naturally aspirated, thats why i brought it, so keep to the subject if posting please.

    kindest regards.
    rod.

lol dude i already told you. NO the fronts CANNOT go on the rear. And YES, you WILL need TT calipers. The fronts do the majority of the braking hence the upgrade on the fronts only.

but the kit doesn't say FRONTS. it only displays the rotor size. so i dont see why these couldn't be adapted to fit the rears?

i just don't get the point of only putting the fronts, would look stupid. mine are purely for looks, so what are my options for bigger rotors on the rear without mega dollars being spent?

    kindest regards.

they cant, listen to ev,he knows what hes talking about :bash: (some of the time)
brake upgrades are for cars that use the upgrades, they re not done for looks on show cars, braking is at the front, not the rear

it may not have said fronts but they ARE for fronts. Plain and simple. Chucking massive brakes on the rear is going to mess with your handbrake assembly, not to mention brake balance. If it's just for looks get some thin metal disks made up that will bolt between the wheel and the hub so it looks like you have super massive rotors. Fully shick

rather kick my self in the nuts than do that lol.

so my only option is standard rotors but the slotted versions on the rear and the bigger brakes on the front?

or spend 10-grand and get the brembo big kit for both rears and fronts?

    mmm.

front will need tt calipers and adaptors to fit the larger rotors.

rears just get the rda slotted/dimpled rotors, they look good...

thats what i was looking for, kind of a shame they dont have bigger kits for the rears. would look better but eh,

    Hey Rod,

If you're after bigger rotors, you could probably try fitting some later model GTR rotors, like say out of an R33 or an R34. Of course the whole hardware probably won't be cheap.

Or you could try to retrofit brake hardware from the later model HSVs or FPVs, would give that massive rotor look that you're after!

even on the rears though kirill?

i've done some reading and the whole brake debacle seems like a hell of a lot of work to get them adjusted right.

would work would be involved in a retrofit from a HSV to nissan? massive i would have thought?

anyone up for a tech day ? :p:p:p

    kindest regards.

Yeah man, pretty sure you could do fronts and rears. You're right though, it would be a massive job to be sure, not to mention pricy.

What I would do if I were you is to pm John from UAS (he's on here, can't remember his username though) and ask him for some suggestions, his track zed runs pretty serious braking hardware, so I'm sure he could point you in the right direction or give some meaningful advice.

Good luck! And let the Melbs boys know if there's a techday, BIG BRAKE INSTALL! :D

As said, no you can't put the 343mm brakes on the rear as they have no provision for the handbrake drum and are to thick to use the standard rear caliper.

If you really want to upgrade the rears, STi brembo's (from 2005 model) are 316mmx20mm (standard Z32 rear is 300mmx18mm) and if you use the STi brembo rear caliper it will bolt on (will probably have to remove or modify the heat shield).

Alot of custom work to get a FPV kit to fit, I think you can get the 6piston Front/ 4 piston rears with 355mm f/330mm r for around 5-6k (last time I looked). Then you need custom rotor hats as FPV uses larger wheel studs and different hub diameter, caliper mounts and lines... possibly retain the standard handbrake setup with custom rotor hats/drums... or adapt FPV handbrake. wouldn't get much change from 7-8k.

Buy the full Brembo or AP kit and spend the $8k.

The G4 kit may be a better option if you are mainly after looks, huge 360mm rotors and 8 piston calipers for around $2k, fronts only though. Rears are fine, no point changing them unless you are a serious racer.

FPV is too hard, better off getting R33 GTR rear Brembo's over the STI's, you can paint them gold if you want  They are both practically the same size as stock so not worth the hassle.
