I wouldn't be too sure of that, I have a magazine at home where they talked about it when the 300zx first came out. They said Nissan strapped the seat designer in a chair and took him out for a spin with the company test driver around the track. As a result, the seat designer severely modified his original design. -Kirill
I have these seats in my 1995 Twin Turbo. Theyn are in pretty perfect nick... Not sure about the whole recaro/sparco what ever thing but I will SWAP them for differnt seats of interest for anyone willing to offer something nice. Leather, custom stuff, buckets etc... Let me know... They are really good seats though.. Cheers, Adam. P.S. Zedders from Melb need only reply :zlove:
Well unless you want a set of 89 tweed seats and interior to swap over for your own custom interior but i dout you would part such a nice interior for me.
Haha, i'd love to Adam, but my missus took the seats for her zed! Now i'm back to shitty tweed brother! How's the car going anyways? Need to catch up sometime! -Kirill
Its going fine still love driving her everywhere. Im about to do the 140,000 km service and my auto is still playing up on occasions which is very annoying. And my 2kspec project is still going strong
Lol, i was actually talking to Jet Spd, his name is Adam also! I don't think we've met before, but i'd be curious to see 2kspec bits! -Kirill
HAHA ADAMZX killed it  Yeah man cars going all good now, she sounds sexy, goes good... All she needs is *maybe* a new clutch within the next 4-5 months and a good cut/polish... And shes mickey Tell your missis that you've found some really cool seats, late model this/that blah blah and make her swap PLEASE I BEG YOU!!! :bow2::bow2::bow2::bow2::bow2: Tell her I will fight her for the seats... ANYTHING I WANT THEM Yeah we will catch up bro no problems We just organise a nice cruise with everyone to the beach or something and a pizza session and will be good. But could we please have the meet up point on the north side of town, its almost always up your way... Change is good
Dude, she'll smash us both before she gives the seats away! Think about it, would I willingly go back to crappy tweed?! Chuck a cruise up your end of town, i'm sure most guys will go for it! -Kirill
I went back and checked the amount paid; it was actually $419 charged by the air freight company (AGS Worldwide). This all happened in 2006 and I no longer have the invoice to see whether customs duty and GST on the seats value were included or not.
Mike, would you happen to have any pics of your new seats installed? Would there happen to be a model #, name or something identifying your seats as Recaro Seat model # _ _ _ _ _ _ ? The closest I've seen is the Recaro Speed; To me they look almost identical except for the cushion material pattern. I'd dearly love to acquire a set of oem Recaro's but I think it may be just a pipe dream.
I've got one of the seats out of the car at the moment, so I'll see if I can find anything. I'll also look at the '98 Nissan brochure to see if there is anything sensible amongst all the Hiragana. The car is getting some paint work done atm, but when its back I will take and shoot some pics to you. I could have said yes, Nissan used my car for the '98 catalogue . Edit: Looking at the pic, I can see that it says Recaro SRII ... I think. Bottom right under version R 2+2. Will clarify tonight. Cheers, Mikey.
here is a set from japan: http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n72960798#enlargeimg I managed to pick myself up a set locally enough yesterday actually
i thought the same but i thought your seats had SR and not SRII on the sides. so i assume though the SRII look identical to the SRs, shape and material pattern that the SR were the ones from the factory for the z32
When you get the car back, can you tell if you sit any lower in the car with the Recaros vs the stock seats? Thanks!
OK, here's the answers .... SeanK, It looks like the Recaros will mean you are sitting 1" (25mm) lower in the car if using the rails they were fitted with on the original '98 Z. This was not measured in-car, but by placing the seats next to a wall and using a square to mark the position of the top of my head. See pics below ... and in the 3rd pic, you can see that the base of the Recaro is visually lower than the same point on the stockie. Jschrauwen, Got the Z back on Friday, and yesterday fitted the second seat into it. Pics below of the interior with Recaros fitted. Cheers, Mikey. Edit: And before anybody belts me over the head - yes, all red vinyl trims and the amateurish stuck on Z logos are going to go - they came with the car. I'm thinking charcoal/grey suede at the moment.
