Hey Pat, yeah mate I had Wed night off visiting Chrispy, and re-installed the plenum and connectors etc yesterday with Bones. All the little earths are connected too Hopefully get one of my brothers auto electrician mates out over the weekend (hopefully). He might be able to give a different look on things...
Another stupid idea that could be worth a shot is clamping the fuel line slightly to reduce the amount of fuel getting to the injectors. Might help if the problem is being caused by an overfueling issue.
Have you bypassed your security Your Zid and car alarm system, Check the CAS for a broken locater pin.
We had a good play today... Found 0psi compression on cylinders 2,4,5,6 And that was with a bit of oil squirted down the bores. 1 and 3 had around 110psi. We put it down to the lifters, so ripped them out and rebuilt them. So much fun Put all the timing gear back together and then I left for the night. Hopefully Mike will have it all together by tomorrow night.
Not exactly sure there was alot of crap in the lifters when we pulled them apart - assume that was causing them to not work like they should and not seat the valves Re-gooped the exhause covers to set overnite, re-assemble 2 moro and hope for the best...:banned:
lifter failure After it was running, Check its oil pressure. sounds like the restrictor was not put in on the motor rebuild.
Where does this restrictor go? In the block? Heads? Somewhere you can get to without pulling too much out?
Hopefully it was just crap in the lifters not letting them bleed down, id be spewing if the restrictors arn't in the block Hope it works out for you Mike , bet uve got no hair left .......... Regards Trev
Anymore info on this restrictor? This block was the one that Tektrader was selling so I've never had it apart...
heres one i found in a quick search Pm Wizard, he's you man http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=260887&highlight=restrictors
wooo-hoooo ladies and gents. boys and girls. the zed is up and running. after all of that, the lifters were the problem. we used some second hand ones. and we didn't rebuild them before we put them in. so after pulling everything out that we had to and after mike and chrispy rebuilding them yesturday. then after putting the engine back together yesturday and all day today. (dam timing belt). WE HAVE GO!!!!... we still have some idle problems. but we are already sorting that out. we have a few suspects and will be after them soon. BUT ITS RUNNING NOW. by the way this is bonezx posting.
Fabulous news - I have been following this thread closely, with increasing alarm, as your problems defied a solution. You know the old saying "There but for the Grace of God go I". I was thinking if the collective wisdom of this Forum couldn't solve it, we are all in trouble. Congratulations!!
..... hang in there lads .... well done .... mikey, you have set the record for the longest mechanical fix post in forum history .... may tomorrow see all resolved ... good luck ....
