    Egg ....

You guys have done an awesome job.

Perhaps PZP should be employed to get it into shape before it leaves WA?
Yeah, pretty fu^&ed... especially when you consider the $ that's been spent.
Great to see you guys pulling together though.

I reckon just sell it to me while it's here, and I'll make it a show-piece for any drift Zeds heading towards a track! No need to transport it back east then... but they can keep the motor.

Well said Bradley! After all the drifting was said and done today I went for a looksie to see how it was going - especially since the last time it came past me on its second lap it sounded like it had spun a big end!!! Still no good news!

Why take a very untested and problematic car all the way across the Australia - and especially when the driver has had absoluetly no seat time whatsoever!?!?!? He said today those two laps he cut were the first time he's driven a zed!!! I'll be very surprised/impressed if it gets running and Scotty becomes competitive given the lack of seat time compared to other competitors and the much faster and longer nature of Barbagallo Raceway compared to tracks on the east coast.

I can understand getting the car rushed and ready for an event on the east coast; if it doesn't run for whatever reason, not such a big deal; but getting car and crew to WA -Kind of raises the stakes alot more! At least a $10k dent in the wallet for the weekend with at this stage not much to show for it.

I really don't mean to be negative; but after seeing today the issues and reading the history of issues in the past on this very forum; people really need to think about things and weigh up whether its worth it before acting!

I hope I'm proved wrong tomorrow and the zeds out there smoking the bags and doing all zed owners proud!

PS. My ex Nismo Mech diff - was Scotties and is now in the drift car - w00t - it does lock! haha

Tomorrow involves me pitching a tent on the grassy knoll, with my chair and foot rest(esky) full of beer, and watching some quality drift action. !

And taking a holiday from zeds for a few weeks before finishing my manual conversion. HAHA

    Well then...

WOW, I came on here to say thanks to all the crew who came out today to help us out or spectate.

I only hope our supporters in 300ZX world can share the same faith as I do that this car IS going to be very competitive. Please guys dont throw stones and make rash comments when you dont fully understand how the drift scene works and where we are coming from. I can relate to your frustrations... I feel them too. But have faith folks, its all looking good and there is a bigger picture. Seeya trackside tommorow.

Tom... your the man! old man has patched water pump, will test in the AM.
Zweetman.... top efforts buddy! Youve been a big help this weekend.
Greg.... thanks for your patience when I called up without any.:D

P.S. Ive just spent all day hyping up the 300ZX community in text interviews and on dvds, its a shame to see so much hate being flung, so early in the piece.

I'm not going to start a flame war. I understand the drift scene and all the costs involved with being part of the series; just because we're not entered doesn't mean we don't have a clue. Boatwright is trying to bring it to V8 Supercar styles too early IMO - the sport isn't that big yet! I also understand that it would be better to miss a round and get the car sorted and reliable rather than rush it and spend the whole of the first day in the pit bay trying to sort issue after issue while having other competitors and spectators confirm what they generally think about zeds!

Good to see Brad got thanks after spending alot of time under the car doing the hard work!!!

It was a little too rushed however I know exactly where the owners were coming from... trying to get this baby out onto the track to show her off... never mind about the mechanical problems.... I've still got love for the sureflow drift Z! :zlove:

And Scottie (ZWEET... not the smokin variety  ) nice pics man! :D

So does the coverage on Speedweek start next week or do they think people in QLD don't want to see it? I've been watching for the last 45mins and it's been nothing but water skiing :(

You know, after talking to Scotty and a few more ppl I'm going to stick by my opinion and say that Zed should never have left Sydney. Reasons are simple:

Sureflow knew the headgasket was blown, that's why there was Chemiweld in the motor.
Driver knew the diff was f#cked that's why the tailshaft was ordered before it got here.
While the driver has to keep things PC to keep his sponsors happy he obviously doesn't have to thank the ppl that worked on the car over here that have a differing opinion to the Zed being here at all. I know I have blisteres, cuts on my hands, greasy clothes/fingernails trying to fix this thing. Lack of sleep from getting up early to chase parts for this guy and on both days also. No-one else was there this morning to assist yet I turned up early to drop off the new thermostat I bought yesterday for the DriftZ. You know it's not only me that thinks this so check your form pal. You didn't lift a finger to help fix your 'investment' bar pulling on a handbrake or putting in gear while WA crew scrambled about under your busted 'racecar'. Check the pic of the ppl working on the diff. Only one person looks clean there to me. It would seem taking a $2500 fine instead of paying $2700 to transport your car over here only to sit in the pits being fixed for free was a superb investment. Keep your thanks, I don't need it.

I know exactly how you feel. People who help because they expect to have their ego's stroked(or asses kissed) would be better off not helping at all.
I seem to remember being "told off" when I arranged for delivery of a certain item(and subsequently fitted it to a car at Goulburn Nationals) in a thankless attempt to help a visiting competitor.
The problems that plagued the Sureflo Zed, are well documented on this forum, and were well known to members all around this country(many of whom helped out in whatever way they could, without looking for kudos). I'm sure that the need to keep faith with a number of generous sponsors(and the volunteers who gave of their time and effort) was foremost in the decision to try and make a showing in WA, and consideration of that fact should be taken into the current situation.

You still havent gotten over learning to ask before you touch someone elses property Lloyd?

My opinion on this stage of Drift Australia and the DriftZ is exactly that, my opinion based on what I saw first hand. The more that gets revealed the more this gets worse.

I'm not keeping grudges against Scotty or his Zed, I genuinely want it to succeed so I assisted in any way I could. A little thanks would have gone a long way. (even you are still bitching about things that happened 2 years ago, right?) Remember this wasn't a simple two bolt install of a brake cylinder brace after all.

  18. CHILI

    CHILI Indestructable Target

It may have been only a small job, but it was considered a sufficiently "big deal" for you to offend two people who were trying to help you by fitting the bloody thing on the "Dummy Grid", moments before you had to go onto the track(that's the sort of thing that normally attracts a thank you from most people).
That was forgotten until I read this rant from you, bad-mouthing everyone who had any part in helping to get the DriftZ to WA, and the car as well. It brought back old memories(not bad when your 64). Your not supposed to remember anything that happened prior to yesterday, at that age.:p:D

    DUB BRAMIS Photography

I was 'badmouthing' the ppl who put together the engine and driveline. Shit, work it out for yourself in your own time Lloyd and keep pointing the finger at me! You'll forget the shamozzle this round has been and how perfectly the car was prepared. Just to clear up the previous post however, ppl looking for thanks is not the best thing, BUT ppl omitting ppl on purpose is just playing games and I reacted accordingly.

I didn't want the brace fitted for the first round, I wanted to test the brakes WITHOUT the brace to see what difference it would make when it was then fitted. I never asked you to even do the install, just supply the part, which you did and was thanked and paid for. Don't worry, you will remember that given time also....

We had our good intentions thrown back in our faces at Goulburn, and you seem to feel the same has been done to you at Barbagello.
What goes round, comes round Brad.
Might be a good time to let this all go.
