I dont care about it the difference it isnt huge, my point stands. this should have been in the FSBB section not GB imho. There are numerous ways I can think of how to extract hidden profit out of a transaction like this. GB = no profit for organisater, FSBB = profit motive is implied. You may call me a twit, i dont think you really understand my point and it would take me an hour to explain it to you face to face.

It clearly states in the GB section of the rules:

Group buys are strictly non-profit, therefore, if you are not comfortable with supplying your home address and phone number, pass the GB to someone else, and ask them to give you a mention as the person who thought of it, after all, if there is no profit, then you haven't lost anything.

Last time I looked UAS was a business and dont work for free or no profit..

honestly having trouble trying to understand your logic here. Here's the facts.

-Rob organised a group buy, makes no profit.
-Group buy is for Twinz rear bars supplied by UAS, Australian company so must charge GST on all products / services.
-UAS get bars from manufacturer in Peru.

You seem confused with how this was all performed, the group buy wasn't conducted directly with the Twinz, it was done with their australian distributer (UAS) & as such we pay GST.

Special request now Rob, any chance of a photo of a big pile of twinz bars?

 

I see where you are coming from

If rob gets a collective order, take full payment for the order, places it with UAS get a better price than if we ordered seperately, pays UAS in full, takes possession of the goods and ships it out himself and all the cost involved are divided evenly and the participants pay his cost (excluding time) and not a cent more than that is a GB, rob doesnt make a cent, True.

That didnt happen, the invoice came from UAS not rob, the shipping is done by UAS not rob, the money was paid to UAS not rob.

The only thing Rob did was make a post, got a list of participants and gave it to UAS and kept us up to date with details. UAS are a profit making business, and appear to be very good at making money. GB's are Non-Profit exercise done in the zed communities interest only, its no secret rob is very close to the lovely folk who run UAS, the lines are very blurred.

Rob on many occaisions has worked very closely with/for UAS on this forum in commerical matters, this appears to be the case in this so called GB, he has acted as an agent of UAS (a psuedo employee even) UAS did almost all of the leg work and most probably made some money from the exercise so this isnt a GB in the true sense. This alleged GB although fronted by Rob was in fact run by UAS. Could the GB price been lower if UAS weren't involved, maybe.

I cant complain about the price as it was quoted up front and I still participate freely.

Also consider what the exchange rate has done since the begining of this transaction, how much/when and what perceptage was paid up front to twinz (and what as the exchange rate) and how much/when were subsequent payments made (and what was the exchange rate for them) I wouldnt be surprised if the AUD value of the USD payments made later on (im assuming UAS didnt pay twinz 100% upfront when this started) moved in UAS favour and added to their profit.

Who cares if he did or did not break any rules. You got a product for less than you wouldve paid if Rob hadn't run this... either way Rob put a lot of work into it so you could benefit from the fruits of his labour. You're getting something for the agreed value presented at the start - isn't that enough???

Got my today, first one to be picked up!!!! Looks good but hard to fit into a camry. Had to drive home with the window open and the bar sticking out of the window a bit. Now to get it painted and on the car. Can't wait. Cheers Mark.:br:

I was mislead (intended or not, through my own fault even, maybe i didnt read between the lines?) as you called this a gb,i dont know if you realise some people are not fans of uas and avoid doing business with them, i have nothing against them personally but i have a reason i choose not to do business with them (i will keep that to myself) so to find out later that they have more than likely profited from my business irks me significantly, had i known this at the start i would have serious reservations about jumping in. As a gb despite uas involvement there should be no profit (as per forum guidlines) hence no objections to uas involvement cause i was of the belief they didnt benefit from me.

Im over this debate and dont enjoy slandering you, as you said you have made significant effort, you dont deserve the hastle im causing u, however my point still remains, this should have been a FSBB thread.

As for your offer to refund monies its too late I have bought other body parts to suit the rear bar so I dont want to spoil that, i will have to lump it.

My profound apologies to you rob for any damaged cause to your reputation. Despite this I apprechiate your efforts as the twinz rearr bar is a top product.

 

Overseas purchases greater than $1000 attract a gst. The group buy of looks like 20+ bars is well in excess of that. UAS was the agent. They pay the tax and pass it onto you.

What was the problem now? Seems a government hating oblivious rant compared to something more rational? I wish I didn't have to pay tax sometimes I hate the government too.... I go and yell at my employer, makes me feel better. Ive been misled before, If I knew the government would get my money, I would never have worked ever. Criminals the bunch of em (labour that is).

Wish I had a spare $900 now rob! Done well!

 

are you going with flat /satin black for the diffuser or painting it gloss like the rest of the car ?...assuming you have a black Z..

I sent Jane the details you asked for so I should beable to square you up and get my bar and the car will be done on the outside that is.

I plan on wraping the diffuser with my carbon fibre and painting the rest of the bar the same as my car.

I'm sure glad I got in on this lot.
