exemptions are almost impossible to get, and constantly getting harder, i know people doing apprenticeships that still cant get them. i got mine for work as a stuntman, which means i can drive it anything stunt related, which is practically all the time anyway
not to sure if its the same as nsw but i drive a turbo on my "P"s u can get away with it as long as on the back on you're license it does not have the power to weight restrictions i know this 4 nsw cause the police like to pull me over just to have a chat i think and do nothing about it
Two things in this thread have caught my eye......... If the price is right then maybe this is your chance to scoop up an affordable ZX, then if your smart spend the next couple of years fixing all the problems, & it must have a few as its been for sale for such a long period Over the couple of years you'll have to wait to legally drive it you'll have plenty of time to rebuild the engine / gearbox etc..... fit the doof doof machine ..... add a realy kewl body kit .... plus some bling wheels etc...... and change the color with a full respray. And in those few years you'll get very personal with the ZX and know it intricately, you'll have one very sweet ride that you'll be legally able to drive, and you wont be paying out on fines. or you could buy a VN and get pithed wid ya bros at the pub every w/end........ ending up with a shitbox car, probably an 05 record, some fugly tart wanting her kids to call you dad, and wondering who got that cheap zx that use to be up the road I know what I'd do......... but can you park it for a few years and do the work ?
Got to love the bit about the fugly tart. He could put a large plasma in the shed with the Z and find one for some back seat dancing ( as long as it's a 2 + 2 ) just like the drive in l.o.l. Oh young fella you do know what a drive in is ?
I love reading posts from people who have a realistic grip on life. You've nailed it in this instance(pity it will fall on deaf ears though):zlove:
hahahahaha thats a crack up..thanks for the advice guys im still pondering on whether to get a cheap one and do it up gradually with no battery lol.. or just take a chance... but i dont think im willing to loose my job so yeah might just do one up lol
FALSE :bash: I've been done twice. $117 fine. No demerits lost. On topic though... Don't do it unless you've also got a daily. You will not enjoy driving it around because you'll be paranoid the whole time. Every time you see a police car you will sh*t yourse lf. In my TT ZX I had a few scares where the cops spotted me and decided to pull a U turn. Luckily traffic was built up so I ducked into a side street and boosted like crazy The adrenaline is insane but trust me, you don't want to have to go through that. These days my ZX stays parked outside my house with the occasional drive to keep it running. I drive an NA Supra as a daily. Oh and as for the turbo fine... My mates have got done and it was around the $250 mark for them. Some lost demerits. Others didn't. Depends on the police officer. Apparently the fine can be up to $1100. You would NOT want to be stung with that.
 i'v had to drive my z unlicensed, unregistered and looking rough as guts. i noticed the cops always look at me as they drive past and i do everything to not make eye contact. i used to get pulled over in my falcon, mum's renault etc soon as i'd make eye contact. pure luck... so dont do it ps. i had a unregistered vehicle permit
There is no solid set amount for the fine. It depends on the officer. I will dig up an old SAU thread in a sec. Everyone had different experiences. Most of them got smaller fines though. As my friend found out, you will not always lose demerits either.
Yeah... its so hard to resist temptation though... would cops really see the turbzzz in Z32's though?? you can hardly spot them unless you know what your talking about/looking at
You're right, a lot of cops would not know it's turbo by looking at the engine. I've had a mate fool them by saying "that's not intercooler piping, that's just the plumbing for the radiator" However, it says TURBO on the compliance plate and TWIN TURBO on the engine itself. Plus, if it's registered as a TT then that will show up when they run the plates I would imagine. The only way you might get around this is if it was originally an NA and converted to TT (and still registered as an NA) and all decals were removed from the engine bay.
Yeah thats what i wanted to do that exact thing... and i was just gonna put a non turbo intake manifold on it so it doesnt say "TWIN TURBO" and blast me...there will be a way around it ...and im gonna find it hahahaha.. lol at me being such a doosh and loosing my licence i would almost be off my p plates by now...
Yup. Mine is sitting on top of my work computer right now Makes for good decoration. I also think it makes my computer run faster.
The badge that would just pull off is the least of your worries, what about the 2 obvious intercoolers visible through the front bar?
