Wow first ZR in so long! anyway.. I'm mentally working through all the problems I am having with the new engine be it from something not plugged in or mods that aren't working.... Questions are as follows: 1) The breathers fromt he rocker covers and other pipes that go to the intake pipes before the throttle bodies (NA remember) can they all be piped together? I would say that the pressure is low enough that they can is this correct? so long as the piping isn't small. 2) Gear box not disengaging/engaging when running. this feels like TT clutch slave cylinder isn't pushing far enough to completely disengage the clutch. I know Zweett used to put a nut in there or something to make the cylinder extend further and this might solve the problem but it should'nt be happening to begin with. Is the clutch not being installed central/properly a possible cause? Or what else could be proventing this. TT Box against an NA engine (shouldn't matter) TT triple plate clutch from simmo (simmo can tell details on clutch as I've forgotten) All in all the 2 problems I have with the zed is 1) running rough/not idling 2) clutch not engagine/disengaging I should be able to get it to idle (though will need a tune) With them fixed it should be ready to go agian.... Thoughts? Clutch has been bled,
didn't need to.. TT clutch and TT flywheel fits fine in TT box on NA engine.. its the bellhousing that is different and so long as you keep Box +flywheel+clutch matching there should be no problem
Just to let you know it's not a multi plate clutch it's a puck clutch, pretty sure it was a 5 puck clutch. If it turns out you need a new master cyl i should have one spare soon
Regarding problem... 1. Can you confirm all injectors are firing, and all coilpacks are firing strong? (just doing the process of elimination) I note that you mentioned the breather pipes in regard to your #1 problem, have you done a vacuum leak test to confirm solid pressure?
The clutch probably just needs adjusting. Under the dash on the rod that goes between the pedal and the master. Adjust the freeplay on the pedal to about 3mm. PCV's can be piped together. With the rough idling, you still got the IACV and AAC hooked up? Got any vac leaks?
all plugs and packs are good, with such a rough idle it is hard to do the usual unplug test. have tested outside of engine anyway all injectors are firing, have been flushed and we watched them work. thats the next on the list (things are on off every 2 mins so havent done for a while)
with the rough idle josh, my money would be on the custom intake piping playing havoc with the iacv and associated bits........ its not something liek a exhaust or valve cover leak? need to get one of those coloured smoke leak testing machines so you can track down the leak properly....
I think I'll go and plumb it up tonight and boost leak test it to start with... will go and finish installing everything with all the new braided lines so its in, secure and won't need to budge and work up from there.
Belt Path also doing som searching to try and find the correct belt path for alt and PS belts and fuel line is 8mm yes?
yes the fuel line is 8mm , dont get 5/16th (7.9mm) line, as its a bitch to get on, just that tiny bit makes life so much harder.....and remember to get efi spec hose, carby hose will swell and burst....(thats bad, ok?)
PCV's and all that being piped together i though would be ok... but can they be extended to run behind the engine do you think... again they are at atmos so I can't forsee it to be an issue... besides the 'why' factor which will be explained later
Atmos? As in vent to atmosphere? As long as there is no line between the crankcase and the plenum. If you have any part of the PCV system venting to atmosphere then none of it can go after the AFM.
