Tyre troubles

Not a trouble changing the tyre, had the tools. It was just that the xtrail tires are quite a bit larger. Lucky that the Evade does weigh much.
You would not have wanted to tail us as the rubber went every where.

Damn the Z looks slow. I'm gunna have to work on that bigtime. Sounds good though.

Love the induction sound. You weren't slow at all.

 

Before you fit the slicks you should check with the organisers. At CAMS track days you are only allowed to run slicks if the car is fitted with roll over protection so it is a good idea to ask first.

 

No probs Pete, This is my make-up for the last Sandown track day I missed out on. So it isnt CAMS.

I am not sure if the Hoosiers are meant to be semislick or slicks. They have 2 straight radial grooves in them.

They may as well be slicks for the amount of good the grooving would be.

Hey fellas, sounded like you all had a fantastic time. I was thinking of coming but got the dates mixed up and i missed it...lol. Im going to come to the next one for sure, but i wanted to ask a few questions....Can i bring my Z to the next one and do a few laps? It isnt set up for racing and was wondering if it needed to be? (do i need a roll cage, special seat belts etc?).
Next track day i will be there for sure with or without my z cause i would love to meet other people that love Z's as much as me.....i just found this forum about 1 month ago and before that i thought i was the only one that loved them so much...lol. Anyway take care guys and ill c u all at the next one!

 

G'day Nikolai. No, your car doesn't need to be set up for racing, as this isn't an actual race event. All you need is it to be in roadworthy condition with no major fluid leaks, a secure battery, no loose items in the cockpit and some decent tread left in your tyres. Beyond that, you also need a proper helmet, long-sleeved clothing and about $200 bucks to enter ($150 to get on the track, $50 for an AASA Club Racing licence).

For your own benefit you should also make sure your car is in tip-top condition mechanically, as track driving puts a lot of strain on the ol' Z. Do a full 100k service if it hasn't already been done, change the oil and filter and throw some decent rubber onto your rims. Good pads and some fresh brake fluid will also help, as will a decent wheel alignment.

Looking forward to seeing you at the track! The last event didn't have that many Zedders show up (just Dieseldave, Tektrader and myself, really) and the more we have at the next one the merrier!

I think i will be pushing my luck to do Philip island as well before Chrissy. I have the Sandown track day on the 17th November.

Really got to get stuck into the track car. I dont think the red zed is gonna last too long getting thrashed like I did,

Think I will use the time to work on the track car and finish off the holiday house. The money spend has begun. Holy crap it goes out quick !!

Had to buy a custom Velo seat today. Crutch strap is too far back on almost all the standard seats for me Another $850 gone :bash:

 

BTW, this is exactly why we need a motor sport section !!

Also Looks like they are replacing the clutch after I had a go at em Dave !!

 

awsome pics. looks like it was heaps of fun. im looking forward to do winton some time soon. few things i need to do before i hit another track day though.... good results too
