Just got home.. speedo conversion is a killer. If u want to do it,, take my advise .... just don't do it. unless u get a already done.

I got the new 300km dial. but f***king thing didn't light up blue.
now my speedo is out by 20kms.
Fuel has to check it tomroo. fill it up full and then keep any eye.
Temp gauge seems to be ok.
    Rev meter seems ok.

And Guess what we forgot to put the speedo white cover back in again. So now i can touch my needle:p by hand and manually move it:p.

But atleast I am not getting annoying beep noise when doing 100km.

Need to pull the whole thing apart again and fix all of this.

Before and after pics to folloow.

Thanks for everyone to help out and adien to host it. learn a lot about the Z. And finally found my hidded turbo timer. Took me three years to locate the damn thing;)

I am thinking the thing that went wrong is.

may be needle position or resistor strugling for that half ohms.

May be i will just buy a smallest battery and connect the invertor to it and just leave it on all the time.

Yes it was a good day, even though i couldnt have my zed there :( made me sad.

You did seem to struggle alot with the speedo change over - took you a LONG time with lots of help, makes me hesitant to do mine but meh ill do it when i get her back from PZP - now i have seen you do it i should be able to do it faster and with more confidence.

Either that or wait for a tech day so vader can do my resistor for me :D

Thanks to Aiden for hosting the day - pitty about not getting his car started (unless you guys managed to do it after i quickly left)
Im sure the BBQ and Beers were good (didnt have either myself, i enjoyed my protien bar ((not really))...)

Other than that, was good to meet everyone again as im still a new face around the scene, as well as meeting a few new people.

now to wait eagerly for the cruise and hope my zed will be ready from PZP
*crosses fingers and toes ... arms and legs*....

It's got me completely buggered why your car doesn't start. It is getting no spark and no fuel which is odd and should just be a bad connection somewhere, but..... :(

Glad I could help with the speedo rov. The resistor that was made up was 17.66k not 18k so that could cause a drama.

    Cheers

was thinking the same but that means another tech day. as I won't be able to replace that.. dave did really good job on that. I won't be able to it that neat. other option I was thinking for now is move the needle position to sit bit higher when idle so that way it will show correct or close to correct reading.

    PICS

before,,, well stock u know how it looks like

After, needle cover is broken and the hole is little bigger then the stock once so u can see the yellow light coming through.

lol yeah was a good day! Speedo conversion looked like a pain in the ass! :) Was looking at doing something similar until i saw how much work was involved!
Good to catch up with everyone! Dunno wtf is wrong with Aidens car.... Been trawling the forums trying to find something remotely related to the probs he's having...
    Nothing yet...

Thanks to Aiden for hosting the tech day and the beer'n'snags! :)

I could put a trim pot in there for you on some fly leads. The idea being you put the trimpot somewhere accessible, go for a drive then tweak it, then go for another drive etc etc until it's spot on. Then you just measure the value of the resistor-trimpot combination, and replace it with a resistor of that value (and a smaller trim pot to guarantee exactness).

I can do that no problem. Buy a 10K Ohm trimpot, a 14.7K Ohm 1\4 watt resistor and I'll set it up for you whenever you want.

As for being 17.66k instead of 18k, that's only .34K or 340 Ohms different. If the speedo is linear (rather than logarithmic), 340 Ohms would make a difference of only .56 Km\H.

So it's more likely that 18K wasn't the exact value required.

Let me know, and I'll help you out.

whatever it needs and wathever it takes. I will get this done and fixed .

When you free dave? next weekend? let me know I will get the parts and will get this thing working. As night time its the worst atm can't see shit.
Will have to pull everything apart:bash: again. But atleast this time will be much quicker

Yeah, seems like they buggered that up a bit and the hole for the needle stopper was too big and had to be glued to stay

Hope it all works out for you though man :)

    Cheers

OK did a really good run yesterday with the GPS, curise control on to test the spedoo. Found out its actually out by 10-12kms not 20. So make me thing its the resister cause we have now 17.66ohms it does need full 18ohms to work properly.

Ok, well grab the parts and come down Saturday afternoon. We'll get it sorted. I'll PM you my address. Or if you are REALLY keen during the week we can do it.

Tech day was awesome for me specially the camber arms are fitted. Thanks a million to Andy. Was hoping to see at least 11 Zed including mine. Missed simmo and Tom from PZP who could shed some brighter light for Aidens car. Could bring my wife and kids to hang around if I knew about Aiden's family in advance. Anyway there is always next time. BTW my car handles much better than before and there was a small vibration at the front wheel when cruising between 80-100kmh which is gone. Thanks to Andy again.
Hoping to meet you all again soon.:)

    Take your pick...
    • When your engine blows up?
    • When the cops nab you for >200 Km\Hr?
    • When your passenger rips a hole in your arm trying to hold onto something remotely approaching a jesus bar?
    • When your missus rips you a new one?
