    ok just thinking out loud in a way here......

    BUt would anyone with a CLEAN and WORKING ....and most importantly, COMPLETELY STOCK zed be interested in a swap .... straight swap, for my modded Zed.

    My car (and im going to be 100% honest here)
    1989 Nissan 300ZX (Z32)
    2+2
    Manual 5sp
    TT
    Targa
    [IMG]

    Good points:
    Body Kit
    FMIC
    Slotted rotors
    POD
    High flowed T28 Turbos
    Good paint
    Short Shift kit (is good once you get used to it)
    Carpet is MINT
    Have original Zed matts (but i dont use them, need a clean imo)
    Dash is mint and protected by a dash matt (no cracks)
    3 POD guage holder centre dash
    100K service done by last owner (reciepts)
    Turbo reconned by prev owner (reciepts)
    All electrics working (inc drivers side seat)
    17 inch rims with Nexen 245's all round (all in good nick)
    Engine has been reliable and i frequently use the car for work (which i dont like to do but am having to)
    Did have an issue but new O2 sensors fixed that (was a nasty flat spot). Been driving fine ever since.

    Bad points:
    Engine bay isn't pretty and needs a damn good clean up
    Seats are leather and are ripped and cracked so bad, I had to hide them under some cheep shitty car seat covers. Id rather people see super cheep covers than the leather, thats how bad it is.
    Seals (doors, windows, targa's) ALL need replacing
    Passenger mirror doesn't fit on correctly so its at an angle
    Trim under windows on outside doesnt match (passenger side is black, driver side is chrome thats been PAINTED black for some reason)
    Steering Boss isn't lined up right and hense HICAS fails
    She pulls to the left slightly, and worse under braking
    Get a clunk noise when reversing after releaseing handbrake (sticking break maybe?) Seems to come from front left wheel area. Yet to track it down and fix)
    Compression test results were not the best. (not low numbers, but difference between the numbers is apparently an issue)
    Little bits of trim on the inside are fitted badly and are coming off
    Controls for the AC dont sit right and are held in place with sticky tape
    Cig lighter has no power
    AC doesn't work. (Apparently just needs a regas, but the heater doesn't work either so i suspect its had a core bypass)

    Compression results were:
    C1 = 138 psi
    C2 = 140
    C3 = 155
    C4 = 130
    C5 = 145
    C6 = 130

    What would I be after:
    300ZX (Z32), 2+2 (pref), 5sp, TT, Targa, STOCK and CLEAN

    Why?
    Like i said, i dont know how seriuose I am about this yet, as writing the above "good points" list is actually good therapy for me and im thinking "meh keep it"

    WHile I am growing to love it, I look at CLEAN stock Zeds and have MORE love for them in pure form (change of rims is ok, and zaust) than I have for my agressive kitted, modded zed.

    SOunds crazy but i would LOVE a nice clean, neat trim, stock as a rock Z32 and would keep it that way and never mod it

    Dunno.........

    Car cost me $15K btw + 2 K shipping, only last year.

    you would be better of selling your zed

    then buying a fresh one that you want, otherwise i feel that you would be burning money......
    however that being said its your car you do what you wish with it, someone would be getting a good deal thats for sure.....

    hmm... you're prob right. Maybe a cash diference would be an option as well.

    The whole idea scared the crap outta me as the engine IS going strong and "better the devil you know" and all that.

    ANyway, its an idea, and i expect plaently of flames to to me out of it ;) :zlove:

    I can see where you are coming from wanting a nice condition completely stock Zed, they are great and if/when they become a classic they will be worth much more than a modified car.

    I am definitely keeping mine dead stock on the outside.

    The bad points list is too long to the point where I didn't even bother reading it. Summarize it if you want even half a chance at swapping! lol

    Youd be better of saying "would anyone like to swap a good condition stock Z32 for my modified screwed up Z32?" lol Now that would be really honest! :p

    why don't you just make your current Zed more to your taste?

    Fit a new 2k front bar
    2k tail lights
    Kaminari skirts

    pull out any rice crap
    Clean the engine bay
    retrim the seats
    if you dont like the fmic ditch it and get some stockies
    fix all those little annoying things inside the cabin

    :cool:

    I think "screwed up" is over the top as they are all "niggly" things

    Screwed up would be "did i mention the cracked head and 1 turbo is missing and all the hoses are split"

    Thats screwed up lol.

    What i posted was just a good honest list

    When i sold the 180SX I took the chick around the car and showed her EVERYTHING that was wrong. Told her about every squeek. Showed her every mis matched light fitting, the wobbly left pop up light, every thing I could bloody find to put her off buying lol

    She was the only person to look at the car and its now hers.

    Some people can lie or "not disclose" when selling a car, but I'd rather paint the full picture myself.

    I dunno man! Being down on compression, seals spent (expensive), failing this and that, pulling to the left, clunking sounds etc sure doesn't sound peachy! lol You'd simply HAVE to fix the clunk and the steering problems without a doubt for anyone to even consider this swap in my opinion.

    You just need to word it better...

    "Interior slightly worn, should be expected due to age"
    "Some seals might need replacing, hard/cracked etc again to be expected for a car of this age"

    And so on... You can be honest without making it sound completely rooted like you did! lol

    id agree if this was on "carsales4noobs.com.au" but not when posting on a Zed forum, talking to current Zed owners.

    Call a spade a spade

  10. red32

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    NEVER consider a career as a used-car salesman... you are altogether too honest!
    In answer to your question: NO! I would not swap my stock (externally) NA for your TT. I love your front bar and the Veilside skirts fit in quite well, BUT unless there was a cash consideration which would enable me to get your car back to the condition it should be in there is no way I would consider swapping. Sorry for the harsh words, but that's the way it is.

    Maybe your best option would be to spend some bucks to rectify the cars deficiencies. Then you would have a really 'Schmick' machine!

    having seen this car in person a few times now,

    ugame is telling the truth on all points re his car(that i know of).....that being said its still a nice example of a tt zed, and if someone was to purchase it i doubt much fixing would be required, most of the "faults" are reasonably obscure and minor....:D

    cheers bro :D

    And for the record peeps im NOT trying to sell and this isn't a seriouse "Want to swap NOW" thread (coz i would have posted in Zeds for Sale).

    This is a hyperthetical thread and I do appreciate all comments.

    But yeah even if I were to sell, id include all the "bad points" that I have here. And i dont think im the only forum member that would be this picky and honest either.

    Prob will end up keeping her. Have to keep reminding myself "its a LONG TERM" project, and in time, in my care, she WILL be mint again... oh yes........ ;) :zlove:

    AndyMac Better than you

    RE: Your "clunk" on pulling left issues

    Lower caliper bolt on the left caliper is most likely loose/or missing. When in reverse it pushes the caliper out and up, then you go forward it brings it back down...ie clunk. :) I had this after the new calipers where fitted to my old car.

    Have a look, could be an easy fix for you.

    I had a clunk from my front suspension that was a loose front tension rod, also a easy fix.

    Personally i don't think its such a bad idea, it would be different if you had done all the major mods yourself. IMHO id much prefer a perfectly stock, mint zed over something midly modified, Nissan got it right the first time:zlove:
