Yeah GT only Beaver and at this stage a kit for the GT2560R is being looked at but not 100% sure at this stage if it will go ahead. Thats between GCG and JP to discuss. Its my view that when upgrading anything on my car or any car especially performance orientated gear I always look at the cost per benefit ratio. Its like the JUN adjustable exhaust cam gears. Some cars produce a good result like the RB engines can see a 6 kw gain is some cases but on a stock VG engine to spend $600 or whatever on that upgrade for little or no gain is a bad move. The same thing can be said about turbos too. Why use a smaller turbo that will work at its limit to produce 300odd rwkw when you can get larger ones that wont work as hard to produce the same result for very little extra outlay. It something the buyer needs to consider greatly as most zed owners may only ever upgrade once especially there turbos and goes for the same with things like ECU's clutches etc etc etc. Obviously the affordability factor comes into it too regarding these upgrades. I will have a chat with Brett at GCG again tomorrow and see how they are coming along with the GT2560R kit and post up the info. The GT2560 kit will be cheaper by how much of that I am not sure maybe not as much as you indicate but we will find out Cheers Jason
With which turbos are chassis modifications needed and forgive me if I you have mentioned it but these are brand new turbos modified to fit the zed?
These are all bolt on turbos with no chassis mods needed at all as the actuators are a smaller size specifically chosen for the zed. These are based on the brand new GT series turbos by Garrett. All parts for this kit are brand new items and come with a full 12 months warranty. Cheers Jason
Not with stock or Mike Smith manifolds the .86 rears will fit no worries a tight fit but a fit none the less.
Yes thats right there will be around 13mm of clearance on each side of the engine between the turbo housing and the chassis rail using the GT2860, GT2860RS and GT2871RS turbos with the .86 rear housing
Not trying to put a downer on your group buy, but when you rev the engine won't the engine movement cause the turbos to hit the chassis?
Dought it! "but when you rev the engine won't the engine movement cause the turbos to hit the chassis?" If the turbo touches the chassis when the engine is reved, it would possibly mean your mounts are loose or worn out. If the engine is moving 13mm at the bottom, imagine how far the top of the engine would be shifting, possible 50-60 mm, thats not going to happen imo.
No Spot on And yes a turbocharger specialist is doing these kits and are specifically engineered to bolt on to a zed with all restrictors gaskets etc already to go.
GOOD NEWS TO ALL LAG CONSCIOUS MEMBERS I will hopefully be confirming this coming week the availability of a true bolt on GT2560R aka GT28R turbo kit to go with the already available kits being the GT2860R, GT2860RS (aka gt28rs) and the big boy GT2871RS turbo kit. I have also decided to go for the GT2871RS turbos for my build engine and will have them in a few weeks if all goes well so stay tuned for more info, pics and assembly pics as it happens. To anyone who is keen these are available NOW with a 5 day turnaround time for the stock turbo modifications needed to be a bolt on to the VG30DETT using stock piping etc. 5 Bolt dumps are still required on all model variants Cheers Jason
No go its too different and due to the lack of sales on the first kits they are not keen to spend more development money on the smaller turbo kits at this stage. Sorry Beaver J
Confusion Reigns Hi have been reading with interest but can not see what you are offering that is different (better?) than TTZ's "NISMO St 11c / turbo upgrade 3" units (!1790 ea), which would be basically upgrading my T25 std to T28 roller bearing specs while retaining the 4 bolt dump pipe config ???????? Please enlighten me. regards Terry
If the turbos he is offering are garrett gt ballbearing turbos then they are an extremely good turbo! You will have a modern turbo that will run cooler charge temps at a higher boost, with modern impellor and turbine design! The problem with running a non standard turbo that is a mix/match hybrid is that it is an unknown quantity, without the development costs and research that a large company like Garrett can throw at this!
whats going on with this? is the buy still on? lag differences? pics of dumps? and 3" dumps available? shipping costs? i'd be interested but with other things being done to my car it'd be a deposit now to secure a set and paid off slowly.
Hey ross, not sure what's happened to jason lately but no doubt busy with work etc. Can answer your questions though the kits are modeled on the one being used for my engine so have a fairly good idea... The kits are in production and UAS (UAS designed and are selling the kit) have sold one maybe two outside of the forum. Re: lag i saw in another post you are thinking about gt28rs turbos with .64 ar, same turbo as used on john and shifters cars, both dyno sheets are up at UAS website so that should give
