Also wondering what gauges Ill need as im unsure what extra ones the tt has.

I plan on making a 3gauge holder in the DIN slot.
    -Water temp gauge
    -Boost gauge
    -??????? what else?

either one of oil temp, fuel pressure or oil pressure. All have their merrits and some may just be superfluous, but it's your decision.

    Thanks a lot.

Ill have a look into what those three do later on. Too lazy to seearch now.

One more thing. Since theres a lot I dont know about the zed yet. Ill post up what ive done to the engine and see if theres anything crucial ive missed or something else which should be done.

    TT engine- NA gearbox
    TT stock clutch and flywheel
    rear main seal
    uderdrive pulley
    overdrive water pump pulley
Turbosmart basic hi-lo manual boost controller
Replaced all boost lines with silicon
    Coolant bypass
    New 2 short coolant hoses
    JWT ECU
    Walbro fuel pump
Samco top rad hose+ aluminium bottom pipe kit

    plan on doing:
    02 sensors maybe
    check det sensor
    FMIC

    What are ideas? missing something?

definitely do O2 sensors while the motor is out - much easier to replace. a 2 minute job with the motor out - 2 hour job with the motor in.

det sensor is the same again - very easy to do with motor out. save yourself the time and money now by doing it.

Ok will get these as well. Just waiting on the tt conversion shim to be sent out to me then I tihnk im ready to get to work on putting hte engine back in.

Just wondering what should I attach to the engine as im putting it in, and what to leave till after its in?

FMIC and new front bar are the two things I havent bought yet. Everything else is ready to go pretty much. Apart from installing a few parts like fuel pump and such.

I figured id attach everything, and leave the following to put on after the engines in:
    -Pulley belts
-FMIC plus all intake hoses and pipes down to the two black hardpipes near the turbos.
-Radiator and condenser (should I put condenser in with engine out?)

Just dont want to have the engine in and then realise I have something that would of been heaps easier to attach with engine out.

    Thanks :)

just found this pic of the reason I decided to do a tt conversion.

Crankshaft keyways were damaged somehow and the crank pulley was wobbling putting all hte timing off. Combined with almost every single oil seal leaking a few very badly. Greasing up everything and over time making all my belts slip and such.

Anyone know what could have caused damage like this to the crankshaft?

Something im confused about I was hoping you guys could help with.

To do with the tt condenser and compressor.

In the engine removal tech it said to unbolt the compressor from the engine and put it to the side which I did. Now I realise theres a compressor on the new tt engine and thought maybe the tech was for removal and putting back in rather than engine swap.

Since I have to put a new condenser in does that mean I have to get someone to depressurise the n/a condenser, then remove the compressor, attach the new compressor and condenser and get someone to repressurise the new tt system?

Is that whats meant to be done, in that order?

Hope to hear your advice guys.

    yes

to fit the TT condenser, you need to have an A/C specialist depressurize and remove the old gas. Then you fit the TT condenser and bolt up the rest of the system. Then, when complete, you get the A/C specialist to repressurize the system with fresh gas.

ok thanks. any rough ideas how much each visit will cost? just so I know what to look for.

    well...

if they are just going to depressurize and then repressurize when the time is right, then it shouldnt cost very much at all... Easily under $200 I would say.... but dont quote me on that..... if you want them to actually install the condenser and associated pipes for you, then obviously that will be extra... as always, the best bet is to ring around and get a few quotes...

Just undo one of the pipes and let it out. The gas isnt an atmosphere risk like the old stuff was.

Remember to replace any Oring seals you open in the aircon. They are a use once item.

    depends....

up until about 1.5 years ago, my zed was still running with the nasty r12 (r12??) gas.... It has since been replaced with the friendlier stuff.... but still, if atilla doesnt know for certain what gas he is using, its best to let the professionals deal with it....

    hey mate,
when i got mine depressurised i had a mobile guy come round, cost me $30 took him 5 mins.

not sure how much it costs to be regassed as i haven't got to that part yet.

ok thanks everyone. ill get a quote just to depressurize it.

No idea what gas is in it so if its relatively cheap ill just get it done.

Thanks for the o-ring tip tek. Will check that bit out whe nI take it apart. Not sure whats going on yet.

ok had it depressurised, removed the lot. just wondering what o-rings tektrader is talknig about? i dindt see any.

Also jaybo or anyone else who knows which hardpipe do I have to change? Is it the one that goes from the condenser driver side over to the compressor?

Hey guys I did a bit of work on it this weekend and have a few quesitons before I can do any more.

A few things id like to ask.

*note: i got all IC intake and turbo pipes, hardpipes but no standalone brackets (only ones attached to hardpipes)

    This is where I stand:

I removed front bumper today, fitted the hardpipe either side of the AFM T-pipe that connects upto plastic pipe to turbo. They bolted onto existing holes.
1.Theres two small diameter pipes coming out of the side of these pipes. One on each. On the n/a pipes they connected to stock airbox ducting or something. Just wondering what I connect to now on the tt?

    2. The intercoolers. Stock ones. Got no brackets. Are there tt specific brackets I need to obtain or make up myself?

    3. From the pipe on the side of the intercooler a long hardpipe runs up to either throttle bodies or turbo, forget which one. Once again I couldnt see where to attach these. Do I need to get/ make brackets for them as well?

    4. The BOV's. There is a smaller diameter pipe coming out of the hardpipe mentioned above, as well as the one mentioned in question 1. which one do the recirc valves attach to?

    5. The radiator in the n/a sits on top of two litle circular brackets attached to the framework. I sat the tt radiator on top and it looks like these same brackets jsut need to be further apart. Do I have to remove the brackets (does the tt radiator sit lower?) and make a new thing up or just sit it on top of these old n/a brackets and put new ones in to support it (just reposition them wider apart).

If anyone can help me with any of these questions please do. :)
Im going to make brackets on friday so jsut trying to work out where I need them.

    Thanks heaps guys

Got some pictures to aid my description.

Pipes in question one are shown as number 7 in the first picture. Although the smaller pipes comnig out of it arent shown in the diagram.
Question 3 asks about some hardpipes im not sure how to attach. These are number 23 in the second pic.

Also that pic shows me where the BOV's go. So that questions answered :)

All the breackets for the piping are on the way :) So that should be all settled.

On the weekend the guys came round and we had a go at putting it all together.

Connected up the gearbox adn turned hte crank to check for grinding, had to grind a bit more off a few times but got the clutch adn stuff to fit in the end.

Then had a go at putting hte engine in but couldnt do it with the Npower dumps on so had to take them off. Eventually got hte engine in and tightened up the engine mounts. Hoorah!

The gearbox isnt connected up yet. Thatll happen on monday with part 2 of putting it back together.

Was just wondering, should I put the dumps or gearbox on first??? Is fitting dumps real hard with the gearbox on? Just because I figure the dumps would get in the way with the bellhousing bolts.
