PS. You need to get a decent exhaust. Those stock dumps are holding you back. When I upgraded it was like chalk and cheese. Split dumps and a 2.5 inch to the tips is the way to go. Especially with the boost you running. 16psi if I remember correctly and still no where near what I have on 12 psi. The difference was unbeliveable, the boost came on earlier and harder. IMO it also came on very predictably. It turned the car from a cougar to a cheetah.

Yeah so I've heard. I'm working around the stainless X pipe I have. 2.5"-3". Dumps, test pipes and 3" to mufflers from the X pipe should get me going.
I have some money now, might buy a set.

    Cheating is bad Al :p
    I shall call mine, Panther.

    PM sent.

Todays big effort: Ok so I wasn't on Easy St yet but I pretty much am now. :D

    No pics.

Replaced rear main seal, manual wiring harness in, clutch lines in, slave cylinder connected, flywheel and clutch in, shifter and wishbone to shell (rubber mount repair job good so far ).

Filled and fitted gearbox, connected all wires inc alternator, starter motor and slave fitted to gearbox.

Already taken 2 extra days off work due to the late start so tomorrow after work I will be fitting the tail shaft, exhaust, plenum and the rest of the top end, refill engine oil, fill and bleed clutch system, wheel back on, lower car and take her for a spin. :D If she starts.
4 days and all the work done by myself isn't such a bad effort. Would've got more done in each day if I didn't sleep in until lunch time. :p

If I ever get an idea like this again, then you better flame the hell out of me. I'm gettin' too old for this crap! :bash:

    I'd like to make an announcement. She's a 5 speed! WOOOOOOOOOO:D hahaha.

All back together and running good and hard. Some tiny gremlins to iron out but other than that, she's sweet.

Also need to ditch the short shifter. Way too tight and hard to move, that's no good for what I want to do so I'll be switching back to stock.

Will post again when I start the next mission, what ever that may be.

nice man sounds good yeh the shifters take some time to get used to but there fun coz they help spining up wheels between shifts :D:D

The clutch is what I need to get used to haha. I don't need to clutch kick to spin wheels either. ;) Sec gear under 13psi has a bit of punch when it kicks in around 4G. :D

Seem to have slightly more power to the ground on 13psi thanks to r33k for the conversion kit and drz400y for the dumps and test pipes. Will set high boost properly tomorrow and see how she goes. Then soon will be the dyno tune. Hoping for atleast 320-330rwhp. Might get lucky and end up with a bit more as I'm only guessing here after the last pull which was 289hp with stock exhaust, auto and 15psi. :zlove: Fingers crossed.

Ok, it's been a good 2 weeks so far and the car is going good. I used Redline Shock Proof in the box and it seems to be running much better than the cheap stuff I first put in.

The main reason for this post is to mention that the "Radiator Bracket Shifter Anchor" dodgy is still in one piece and working well. :D
No free play, not too stiff, just perfect. :)

    well done mate, very impressive.
i'm hoping to do most if not all of my work myself and have a good mate (owns a drift s15 but is good enough lol) who has offered to take on my car for a week and do/teach me the 200k service i am due for and reading your thread helps keep up the confidence lol.

how do you feel with spraying your car with cans ?
did it tun out how you expected and are you happy with the result.

i'm only asking as i live in a different state and the photos you have dont help too much.

I've painted cars before so I wasn't at all bothered by it. It's not how you apply the paint but how you prep the car first and how you finish it. It took a hell of a lot of sanding to get the satin (orange peel) out of it including the clear coats on top of that, a good buff and polish and she came up schmicko. The quality of the work is rushed and crap and I knew how it would end up, I just wanted the car one colour after having fitted the front bar and the matt red and shedding clear coat had to go.

I do plan to take my time and respray it properly one day.

As long as you take your time to prep the car and know how to apply even coats and rub it back right then it doesn't matter how you put the paint on. A proper paint application makes the whole job alot easier though as it applys and sets alot smoother when done correctly and the gun is set right. Unless you have a booth, climate plays a huge factor aswell, as cooler days result in milky paint, yuck! Warm dry and low wind days are good.

I could go on for ages on how to paint cars the way I learned. I only know basics though and I haven't even tried metallic paint yet. I don't even want to try pearls, candy or flake yet. I plan to do metallic paint on the car and have learned already from test painting the front bar that it's very different to painting with regular acrylics, the metallic needs to be applied in thin coats to maintain even metallic finish otherwise if it is applied even the slightest bit too thick, all the metallic runs and bunches up in the paint.

    New Cats!

200cpsi Hi flow metal cats from Scotts Rods at Yamanto. I'm conveniently just up the road. :D
For $180 each, these are a good quality looking cat. :)
The cores are welded in place so they're not going anywhere.
