Either's my sterio.... But the Turtle is right, check out the relevant ADR's and the NCOP for modifications. It is spelled out quite clearly. If the correct amount and spread of light is still visible then you can get them signed off.
another way and would look more pro shaun is to take them to the tint professor,it would cost probably $50 ,but be aware, the cops are not going to like it one bit
Mike, looks way better with the 2k lights, a third brake light panel will make it look even better. I really love the way mine look too. Talking from experience, smoked lights look cool but when you get that yellow sticker and have to miss 2 days of work just to put the car through the pits, makes you wish you would have never thought of doing it. This is what I did to my last car.
I reckon Both looks good, its more like what do YOU like best, if u stick with the smokey ones i'll have first dibs on them if u wish to get rid of them hehe :zlove:
SMOKED all the way. looks tough as esp on white but in saying that are you kool with gettin a defect...might not come the first day but it will come.
I've been pulled over 4 times for RBT's without mention of them, and I don't mean a booze bus, they did a u-turn to pull me over.
yeah, spray on stuff.. need some coats of clear too if you want to polish them or it'll become uneven. this is how it looks unpolished:
2k spec for me. Amature back yard smoke tail lights look CRAP. It's always uneven, patchy and looks like your not braking when you are. If you want to go for the smoked look - take it to a spray painter who will haze on 2pak black color from a spray gun and then clear it a few times. Very professional look and 100% even. My friend has got a speical method/mix that he uses and the lights are very transparent when the lights are on (can clearly tell between brake and parkers) and very dark when the lights are not on in the day time. From memory he put a few coats of black and cleared it heaps.
it's not always uneven or patchy, cos mine aren't.. you just need to clear before polishing to prevent that. maybe the lighting makes it look bad cos I didn't quite make them dark enough for full sunlight.
Yep, Simon.. ..you were right on the money there. I rang Vic Roads and was told point blank that it is Illegal/unroadworthy to have tinted tail lights in any form and there is no provision for them in the ADR (Aus Design Rules) at all hmmmmm is it worth it... will I won't I....??? ..bugger it, yeah why not..!!
yea sucks....thats the world of customizeing ur ride...not legal but looks good is ay **** it thers soooo meny commonwhores driveing around with faded to shit rear lights that are allmost clear....dont see them getting in shit
Yeah I was going to say that about rx7's. I think the reason they get away with it is because they have 2 big reflectors on the bumper under the lights. One of the reasons it is illegal to smoke the lights is because they cover up the reflectors. If you managed to put some reflectors on the rear bumper like on the Aus spec zeds, I think that would be ok.
