Chuck up the compressor maps and I'll have a good guess ;)

Hope your workshop knows what they are doing... From what I can tell twin T51's are too big, they will be surging nearlly all the time  I could have stuffed up...

One T51 will make 750 hp @ 30psi with pretty good effeciancy. With twins it forces it ttoperate too far on the left hand side.

    The above is based on:
    Standard 3L
    VE of 98%
    Redline of 7000rpm
    Ambient of 20deg
    Manifold temp of 55deg
    Atmo pressure if 14.7psig

they have been doing all my engine work for years now so they should know what they got themselves into lol. we'll have it up and running sometime next week so i will let ya's know how we go!!!

What sort of VG with a fully built bottom end will only rev to 7K?

Forged pistons and rods and a good balance should be easy pushing over 8500 rpm

    it red lines about 8500-9000rpm

So? You still have to force 40lb of air with a PR of around 3 to get 700 hp out of it, sooo ineffeciant and nearly constantly in the surge zone. I would think that similar power figures could be obtained with a single T51 and a large exhaust housing.

I'm sure your workshop isn't just doing random things with very expensive turbos. Just curious as to what they're doing...

Oh i wasn't disputing that at all hehe

maybe they plan on using nos to bring it on boost ...?

    it went bang!!!

hey guys will have to wait on a final dyno result tuesday ended in a explosive result lol methenol pooled in the plenum and it went bang. bend plenum and blew apart cooler and pipes. so once fixed it will be back on but it did make approx 300kw on 10psi

Thats never good news, did they find out why it did it? are you running methanol through the injectors or are you spraying into the T/b.

    compressor surge?

Sorry to hear you have had a set back , I hope you get it sorted.

we think what happened is that the second six injectors that are in the plenum are not staged so on idle or cranking u have 12 1600cc injectors spraying methenol so we think that the methenol has pooled around the trupets in the plenum over period of the day and the last time we cranked it the plenum was half full and it back fired and up it went.

    AndyMac Better than you

I had a quick scroll through but are you funning methanol as a fuel? or as injection into the manifold?

If your squirting methanol under boost into an intake with velocity stacks then you run a significant risk of methanol pooling on the bottom of the intake under the stacks on overrun, coupled with methanol's low flash point your begging for trouble. You need to either a) directly into the stacks or b) about 8" before the TB. I would consider looking at methanol nozzles into the stacks as the amount of air your moving with those turbo's you'll want alot of methanol, and running 6 smaller nozzles will give you better atomisation.

But then, if your using methanol as a fuel then I can't see why it's pulling in the intake unless it's blowing past the rings and back into the intake.

we are using methenol as a fuel. the injectors are postioned so they spray straight into the stacks but like we said maybe it is over fuelling on idle
