I've tightened up all the fuel hoses in the engine bay after last nights attempt at starting just creating a fuel stench. now theres no longer any fuel smell in the engine bay and with a charged battery she started up The problem is it doesn't run smooth and there is a a LOT of fuel coming out the drivers side exhaust, a big pool formed behind the car after about a minute of running. I have a short vid I'll try to upload soon whats the most common cause of over fuelling this bad? on the fuel side we have a microtech running nismo 555cc's and a turbosmart fuel reg
stuck injector is my thoughts thats bad.... but it comes with a free frogurt thats good the frogurt is also cursed thats bad
not sure how a leaky O-Ring would cause over fuelling though. The O-rings just seal the injector? how often do fuel injectors get stuck open? cheers for the help
I meant seal the injector into the runner so air doesn't escape past the injector, an O-Ring goes aroun the injector where it presses into the collar, fuel doesn't flow there (or it shouldn't) or are we thinking of different O-Rings?
Might be a long shot, but check #6 injector plug isn't mixed up with the idle control valve connector.
it will be the bottom oring on the injector i reckon when that goes it allows fuel to get into plenum. easy fix if its the culprit.
remove plenum. pull rail . connect fuel lines. prime a few times u will find your leak in a matter of seconds
On the bottom on page EF&EC-15 in the workshop manual there is a picture that shows the 2 sealing o-rings. If the seal on the bottom one is bad fuel leaks into the intake, if the top one is bad it will leak externally. If you take the rail out and connect it back to the fuel lines and switch on the ignition, it should be obvious were the fuel is coming from, with closer inspection you should be able to see if its coming from the injector or from the o-ring. Have rags and be ready for a bit of fuel, so follow safety precautions.
cheers guys, I have josh over at the moment giving a hand as well I pulled the balance pipe and found a pool of around 30ml of fuel in the drivers side plenum, which feeds the passengers side bank right?
might be lower o-ring on one of the injectors but can't say for sure... i've seen a few z's with busted lower o-rings that like to hydrolock once turned off and left for a while (all that left over fuel pressure giving the bore a good wash down!)
yep, it was hydro locking, hard to start until it turned a bit more etc. looks like I'll have to pull the plenum
should I just get the O-rings through nissan or are they expensive? what else needs to be replaced while I'm doing the injector O-rings? manifold gaskets?
nissan orings for a top and bottom set will set ya back abotu 150... better to get from elsewhere much cheaper
This is quoted from Dino in this thread: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241132&highlight=injector+o-ring+size Also from Z1Motorsports: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=47 Includes rail to plenum seal, don't know there size.
are you still using the OEM fuel dampener or does your TS regulator act as the dampener too? I would have thought these would be the first things to change/swap since you have fuel in the upper plenum.
