Get photos while they're off this time lol Ok People are forgetting that the problem happens when applying the brake resulting in a violent shudder. A small crack won't be enough to cause a violent shudder and the bearings are questionable. I know we're all clutching at straws now but holy sh!t Chili, you've got yourself a very tough problem to solve. I'm still trying to think of what it could be and if its bearing related then think of this; When braking, the load of weight on your stub axels and bearings shifts from the bottom (weight of car downwards) to towards the front with the weight pushing back (weight of car with inertia moving foward while brakes are forcing it all back). I'm talking about where on the face of the axel and brearings the weight is applied incase you didn't follow. Sorry if this is confusing. I haven't read it all since I last had a look but did anyone mention the fitment of the pads? not sitting right or viberating on the disc. Never heard of such a case but hey, maybe you should consider that wiper blade lol.
And you know this how? I have experienced this issue in another car, and the crack was almost invisible.
Don't get the shits about it. I've seen worse and no shudder. its not enough to throw it out and shudder the car that bad. But everyone has a different opinion or idea. Look at how many different answers you'd get from any number of mechanic for the same problem. I'm not an expert nor am I an idiot, I'm just saying what makes sence to me and what I've seen. I say get the rears done since they haven't been and see how that goes Chili, maybe the problem isn't in the front. You've eliminated everything. Time to check the rear end.
oysters zed .. or oysters chili ...??? no doubt which wins .. .. oysters zed for me .......!!!! .. .. i still think that the solution is simple... just give the damn machine to BB ...!!!! ..
The rear is all that is left to check. Discs are new RDA's, Subframe bushes are all Energy Suspension items(as are all the suspension, swaybar and steering bushes). Rear Upper Control Arms are the DUB units (with rose jointed inner bearings). Rear wheel bearings replaced. Very, very tiny movement in Outer Upper Ctrl/Arm bushes(new ones on order from COZ). The outer ball joints on the HICAS steering arms are also on order from COZ(just to be safe). This is all thats left to replace. I am still unconvinced that violent Steering Wheel(and column) shake, in conjunction with brake shudder, can be caused by the rear suspension and/or brakes(especially when it is not constant). No sign of this, or any problem on the Cowra weekend, but has been there before, and since.
Front tyres out of round perhaps????? If one is out of round it may contribute to shudder upon braking. Especially from high speed deceleration. My car has one front tyre that is slightly out of round and is enough to cause slight vibration when braking quickly from high speed. I have fitted new front rotors with new brakes. Cant wait to get rid of that tyre really. Peter
It happens at any speed. I'm doubting the rear now since you're saying it affects the steering and column
From first post in this thread, it's OK, I know there has been quite a bit of discussion in this thread(and a million theories), now if only we can find one solution.:zlove:
Yeah sorry, I'm going from memory . I just click on the last page to see updates. This thread will be good for anyone who has similar problems. They're sure to find a solution with everyones input
How about putting the car on a Dyno (Front wheels), get some one to apply the brakes, see what moves ????
Just though the thread could do with a little lightnening up . + Feel a buit sorry for Lloyd, especially after all the dramas with his starting problem a while back Was wondering how may noobs would I might string along. Chrispy spoils my fun
Nice attempted recovery Greg, but it lacks that slight touch of credibility.:nono: P.S. Greg, are you sure you're not masquerading as JP in your spare time(or are you just a bit nervous)?:zlove:
That's what you get for posting while you're supposed to be working. (Takes leaf out of UGAMES book) Promise I'll never forget 2 yous da schpeel cheeker agayn
You need a faux pas Checker to get you out of this one Greg. Still laughing (How about putting the car on a Dyno (Front wheels), get some one to apply the brakes, see what moves ????)
hehe You guys crack me up. Problem is, do you really think I was serious, or do want me to think you think I was serious. Guess we'll never know :zlove:
