Just trying to be a good boy :D This is a forum I don't want to lose :) and yes I'm an animal and love it rough ;)

I'm keen to know if its the ABS as it seems you've gone over every physical part even remotely related to the problem.

to eliminate the abs you could just remove the abs fuse i think

    ports the pro

Also if you un-plug the abs sensors the car should default to standard braking, which would be another way to temporary "remove" the abs.

    Try a jemmy bar

In the front camber arms and check for movement ,If nothing there try the rest of the front end for movement .
If nothing found fit a pair of bendex ultimates or other soft pads for a week to see if the problem persists. polished discs ? :zlove:

+1 for something acting up with the ABS.

Chris, all front suspension components have been thoroughly checked for unwanted movement, and appear to be behaving as intended.
Three different sets of Pads have been tried without any noticeable difference in respect of the shudder. Discs have just been re-surfaced by Specialized Brake & Clutch in Penrith(who also discovered the hub run-out).

Dino, the wheels and tyres have been balanced on and off the car and are in perfect order, as are the wheel studs and hubs(wheels are centrally located on the hubs by Nylon ring inserts in the rim centres as required).

Lloyd, when the shuddering occurs, do you feel any vibration/feedback coming back through the brake pedal?

Normally you can feel ABS input through the pedal, but yes, if the ABS computer thinks that one wheel is locked it will be constantly trying to reduce braking on that wheel.

Yes Greg, there is some degree of Brake pedal pulsing(not hugely apparent, but definitely there in a subtle sort of way).

The shudder is so severe that it rattles the side window glass and doors, and the steering column and steering wheel.

There are two 22A fuses in the Relay Box in the engine bay. These are supposed to be for the ABS actuator solenoids, so I will pull them tomorrow morning and see if the problem persists.

    You have aftermarket wheels.

Have you got hub centre adaptor rings fitted Lloyd, or are the wheels sitting on the wheel studs alone?

Yes mate, they are fitted correctly(see above).

Has the bush on your front shocker been

checked? coz mine was found to be shagged, so time for some new shockers and hopefully that will solve my vibration issues. I have the same issue, new rotors, pads, rack bushes, inner tie rod ends, new front dunlop SP3000A tyres improved but still there. One of the senior mechanics at work pryed one of the front shock bushes and found too much play, which hopefully will cure my light steering wheel vibrations

Any luck with that ABS CHILI?

Has a self diagnostic been done

on the ABS .Was the battery removed for the weld repairs as it could cause ABS faults, Has the ECU been reset Battery removal or other way, after repairs.
Possible sensor or sensor gear fault from bearing replacement and disc check.
You seam to have eliminated all suspension & brake setup problems, Was the suspension checked both ways, ie ., wheels hanging free, then wheels supporting the car weight.

Fuses removed from ABS this morning with no change whatsoever in the shudder department. Subsequent fuse replacement also without any noticeable change to the problem.

Geez Lloyd you certainly get the wierd probs mate thats for sure. I have been thinking about it all day and the best I can come up with at the moment is air in the brakes, faulty booster or ABS related either sensor or module itself.

    Still thinking mate

:( hmmm not good CHILI. Wouldn't be air in the brakes, that would just make it spongy.

I've have a simular problem and i don't run the ABS on at any time , i often wonder if it's a kind off pad build up ( glazing ?) so to speak and after some hard use it improves but the while crusing around it comes back.
I also have the high pitch schreching aswell.
The thing is i have take the heavy 19 inch wheels off and refitted the 18 racing harts and it seems to have gone away , the only thing i did different was to hand tension the nuts rather the rattle gun this time .
So i don't know where your at with wheel nut tension but maybe have a look at it.
As i don't drive the car much i only remember when i'm in it then put it away and forget.

Hmmm, could it be air in Chili's right leg, spasms in the muscles or the sensor itself that's causing the shudder ? (sorry Lloyd)

Have you checked that these wheels are not falling apart like the old one's did ?

Mate, time to call in some favours

What you need to do now is replace each component in turn with a known good one and identify the culprit that way. Collectively we should have more than enough gear.

I have stock wheels, slotted RDA rotors (standard size), calipers with 90% intact Bendix Ultimates and StopTech braided brake lines. You are welcome to borrow and test run any and all of those. As a combo they brake cleanly and predictably on my car. Obviously my wheels won't fit over your 324mm rotors, so a borrowed set of 18" wheels from someone would be a better option to test the wheels in isolation.

I also have some brand new PZP Upper camber arms and adjustable torsion rods on the shelf. You are welcome to try them on as well.

Please let me know if I can assist.
