Given the recent changes to build direction (see here), I'm starting to have doubts if sticking with a single Pod intake is the best choice, even for the short term. To sum up, engine build is now: - Forged Block - Ported Heads & Lower Plenum - HKS GT2530s (looking at max boost of 20-22 PSI) - JECS 750CC Injectors - Nistune ECU - Full 3" Turbo Back, with AMS Split/Expansion Dumps - Full 2.5" Intake from Pod to Plenum - Japtek SMICs (looking at having them modded to 2.5" inlets/outlets very soon) - Standard S1 Manual Cams & Gears - Standard Fuel Rail & FPR - Standard TT Fuel Pump At that boost level of 20-22, I'm starting to think the single Pod intake is going to become the biggest restriction / head ache, second to the Cams, when it comes time to tune it. With someone who has experience in this area tell me if its worth while just biting the bullet and going with the Selin Intake kit now to avoid any hassles while tuning at that boost level? Cheers, Emile
So you have gone to the trouble of upgrading ALL YOUR PIPING and wondering whether you should leave a single pod ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? PLEASE
Good point. Air can only flow at the rate supported by the worst restriction... You have 5" of intake piping connected to a 4" intake.
shit, you're right. that's even worse then! Then again, this is all going through two 58mm throttle bodies. I'd replace them too Emile! edit: why did you re-post that?
How hard would it really be to make a Selin intake system yourself? What would happen if you got two AFM plugs and spliced them together? 1) Obtain twin AFM's and plugs 2) Obtain solder and soldering iron 3) ??? 4) PROFIT! What is the range of aftermarket throttle bodies like?
Z1 sell ones that have a reputation to leak for $400. That is all aftermarket. Alternates are modifying the stanza tb's.
If I am gonna drop that amount of dosh I would have just done what you did and went with the ViPEC lol MoulaZX
I think the leaking issues have been rectified, different casting process. I have the old ones and no leaks
Ha yeah I was just kidding, going for the "ultimate" in no restrictions intake system ya know? Ha. Vipec's great though, highly reccomended but yeah be prepared to pay the big $$ To be serious for a minute though you will reach your goals on stock intake piping and stock throttle bodies with a twin MAF setup. Or better yet take that money you're putting into the piping kit and use it to upgrade to a map style ECU. It then becomes very easy to make up a twin intake kit using your existing pipes.
If you have stock throttle bodies is there any real benefit from getting 2.5" intake? Maybe from pod to turbo but after that?
