Hmm..you might have taken that the wrong way..I didn't think you were suggesting my car wasn't clean..I was just jokingly saying if I cleaned it anymore it would disappear lol..

My zed will be the same as last year, as I haven't spent any money on it really over the year..however I have more of an incentive to get the first aid kit and fire extinguisher that I have been meaning to get..forever lol...safety equipment I hear you say...I know a friend that carries a disposable laerdals air viva in her car rofl...

Damn, unfortunately my zed is still being worked on and probably won't be ready by November (as much as i'd like it to be.) But next year i'd have to come along to this. I'll probably come have a look this year as it's only in Renmark and I live in Mildura.. which is pretty much right on the border of VIC and SA.

    Good stuff Dougy!!!

I will be heading to Renmark on the thursday morning. If we are all going on the same day, we could do the usual convoy.

I am then leaving on the sunday, via the Gammon house hold for some zed related activities that I need Daves help with.

    Cheers

    Theme

So with 3 confirmed zeds (Wykked, Jedi77 TT, red32), plus a possible extra 2 zeds (Jedi-77 NA, Renzed) (only if my NA hasnt been sold by then), we need to start organising our theme...

So far we have Jens Beach theme.... We need to nut this out a bit more in regards to what the beach theme would entail...

As a back up, I'll think up some extra theme ideas....

Surely I'll have the Z back by then. It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long now! :(

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Can I request that no-one puts forward the concept of the blokes getting out in surf caps and Speedos in Tony Abbot style :eek::eek:. On the other hand, anyone capable of getting Jennifer Hawkins to demo her new range of swimwear at our stand will get my vote for PM!

I don't own a surfboard to bring - how many do P&J have in their collection?

    Theme idea....

dont shoot me down for a stupid idea....

but since its a car show and shine, how about a mechanical workshop theme? We could have the cars arrayed in a certain pattern, all arranged as if they are being worked on. As a few examples, I could put my car on jack stands and stick an oil pan and mechanics trolley underneath with an opened tool box nearby, a few spanners and ratchets near by. Pete could have one of his tyres off showing off his massive brakes, and maybe some brake pads lying around... Just some ideas, but it could look funky and different... and we could all be walking around in overalls.....

between us all, we have plenty of tools and zed items to make an awesome display.....

And here's me, thinking I would walk around all day in surf shorts, flippers, goggles and snorkel.
I was going to bring a beach umbrella, deckchair and my bucket and spade, too!
    I like the mechanics theme!

    another idea....

I always get the impression that most of the public at these show and shines have no idea what the 300zx is, or what its specifications are. So, regardless of what Theme we go with, I think we should have a general info board that can be placed in the middle of the display with our aus300zx banner. In my mind, the info board would be either A2 or A1 in size, and basically give a very brief description of the car as Nissan intended (ie, years of manufactures, 2 seater, 2+2, transmission types, awards that it won).... and then underneath that initial paragraph you would have 2 columns. One with all the factory NA specifications, and one with all the TT specifications. And in the background we could have a watermark pic of a zed or something..... I'll mock one up as an example...

And then, if people want, each individual car could have its own info board, like what Pete does, which would be specific for each car obviously. And that way, the public can compare stock specs to modified specs.... I plan to make one up for my car.

If a group display is about informing the public or adding something different, then I think the general info board is a good idea....

    Thoughts, opinions, discussions?

One thing that we do need to help with the club display is "Idiot Boards". Most members have seen the board that we use and it is a bloody cracker. For those who don't know it here is a quick pic.

What I'm proposing is a smaller version around A3 size that will incorporate the forum Logo at the top and a brief writup on your car. I've spoken to the signwriters who say we are looking at under $40 each, and under $30 if we keep the artwork down.

    Give me some feedback guys.

    yes...

I think its a great idea Pete. However, I was thinking of making a "less permanent" version for this year, as my car will be a little different. I was thinking of making a very simple wooden base, and then print the info board on a piece of A3 paper and get it laminated. The A3 piece can then be removed and printed new each year at little expense. So yes, I agree with the idiot board, but at this stage I dont know if I would get a "professional" one made up. If I had the NA, then yes I would, as the NA would not change much at all. But with the TT, I have to start over again...

Please also look at my other post in this thread in regards to a general idiot board... That one, we could get printed professionally as it would not have to change each year...

I'm on top of that Mark. To cover the members who turn up unexpectedly I was going to get a few additional boards made blank with could then just have sheets of A4 paper attached with hand writen blurbs.

Remember that the boards like mine are just stickers stuck on the board, so it is alterable very easily and very cheaply. I've had to edit my board several times due to upgrades and wheel changes. Easy to get done at any local signwriter once the font/size/color is known.

As for the Oversize general idiot board.......good idea, as long as it is made to a size that fits in a Zed. My old idiot board is about as big as is comfortable to carry. It is 10 years old and is only just starting to show the effects of a hard life on the road.

    General idiot board....

Pete, for the general idiot board, this is what I was thinking....

The board itself could be propped up on some metal poles (which I have home). I can design and make a system quite easily for it to work, and not look ghetto.... We could all perhaps chip in for the printing costs (wouldnt be much). Carrying the board would be easy, as that would easily fit in my 2+2 with the seats down. The poles is where I would have difficulty as they are about 1.5 meters long and would not fit in my zed.... I was hoping we could put them in your Patrol :).... I went with the pole idea because I think the general idiot board needs to sit higher, to get attention and be very visible.... what you think?

Unfortunately we're unlikely at this stage. We'll only have been back a week or 2 by this weekend, so there will be family to visit etc.
