OK I have decided to start a new post because the other one was long and confusing, so for simplicity I will start another one and get an idea of interest. Mark and I have fitted the alarm to my car and although it was a long and arduous process, every feature works perfectly. It is programable, all feature can be turned on/off, turbo timer is adjustable, remote start is adjustable, range is good (although not 1.5kms), the car will passively arm. Installtion is hard, and not for someone who doesn't know their way around the electrics. Mark has offered to do it for $350 for the whole shebang with all bells and whistle and door actuator included. There are other installers around who will also do it. Price should be circa $130 plus freight, I am hesitant to put exact figures on it because of imprt taxes we may/may not incur and also different freight costs to different areas. Please post if you are interested, we will end the GB after 2 weeks from today (26/08). PM me for details on how to pay.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Alright looking good Fate - you have some credit with me so when it all goes down you can just tranfer the difference. Stryder - is it one or two mate? Hopefully we can get a few more in! I will require cash up front and before closing I will post freight rates (roughly $35 for the 2 day special). Mark I beleive has just installed his alarm and reports it is working very well, and I have to say that mine is definately working well, I can set sensitivety to make the alarm go off if a bird shits on my windscreen if I want!!! And whilst many beleive that the remote start is a wank feature it is actually quite useful, by the time I get in my car it is on full boost - all warmed up and ready to go straight up. I think allowing 5 mins of idle before driving is probably good for you engine and turbos anyway. All good so far guys!!
Yep i'm keen, pm details. also wondering... could u guys also write up a set of your own installing instructions so we can see exactly how u did it, possibly posted in the Tech section wid pics?? would be happy to pay a little extra if i had detailed instructions  PS. is it possible to get 2 remotes
Oh, and will it be compatible with an existing Turbo Timer? its got its own right? is the sensor a shock or sound sensor, what are the imobilisation points?
Ok It comes with two remotes, sensor is a shock sensor, should work fine with existing turbo timer I beleive (the alarm's turbo timer can be turned off), and the immobilisation point we put in mine is well hidden right back at the fuel pump.
Replies to above questions Q: Adding additional immobilisation points? As this is a public forum available to everyone (car thieves included) I won't go into every detail (nor will I put pictures in tech section for same reason!) but it is quite easy to set up as many immobilisation points as you want using additional relays. (easy to make it a three, four or five point for example) (SCOTT: We can upgrade your system to 3 point when you're ready) For recognised aus300 forum members who have purchased this alarm, I will give detailed instructions on how to set additional immob points up...or I can install for qld members also. I've now installed two of these systems and am pretty impressed with the features. It has lots of little niceties like turning on the interior light when disarming (goes out on ignition). The remote start is quite intelligent and safety aware (it won't start unless the gearbox is in neutral) and it senses if the engine didn't start on the 1st remote start attempt and will restart it again.
I am not sure if it has been covered so... I think it is very important that everyone be made aware that this kit doesn't feature all black wiring and as such is not suitable for insurance purposes. The reasons I chose this alarm are: A) the features are great B) it was going to cost me an extra $250 per year for fire and theft coverage for my car up to $5k less an excess of nearly $2k, which means if my car got stolen and burnt to the ground - I would see $3k back from insurance - no thanks. So I have decided to make my car unstealable and also not park it in high risk situations. If you require an alarm or immobiliser for your insurance policy and don't already have one then this is not suitable. If you already have an alarm installed which meets your insurance company's criteria, then depending on your set up, this alarm can possibly be used in conjuction with your existing system.
I dont know how possible this is, warranty wise, but remove the wires from the unit and replace with black wires maybe? Just a thought. :zlove:
i thought of this also but wasnt sure if i was just goin to be making a complete fool out of myself by saying it...lol
Absolutely this alarm is compatible with an existing alarm That's what I have done with my zed. The units work well with each other and this alarm has capacity to over-ride the other alarm for remote start/turbo timer mode etc. I have just finished setting the programmable options I wanted. 1: Passive arming & locking - turn ign off, close all doors and "forget" to arm or lock = after about 20 secs this alarm alerts you via pager that it has taken the liberty of arming the car and locking the doors (also rolling windows up) 2: auto central locking when ign on - anti car-jacking. When ign on and foot on brake, all doors will auto lock then auto-unlock on ign off. (Don't laugh, carjacking is more common that you think- of course with targa's off = less protection) 3: Interior light auto-on when disarm for 20 secs or goes out immediately on ign on... At first I didn't think that much about this system, but it is really growing on me. The main feature IMO is the paging system which specifies on the LED screen whether someone has hit the car and/or opened a door/hatch/bonnect and/or illegally started... For the price it is absolutely great buying. I am now thinking is is an essential compliment to any basic "insurance approved" alarm.
