BTW the PS3 uses a bluetooth remote with no option for Infra red.

So if you are using it as a bluray player you have to use the damn games controller to run the player. OR you have to buy the blutooth remote for another $120.

It also means you can't program it into your learning remote as its an RF transmitter not IR.

So another remote on your table to add to the oither 6 that are there.

Bah, buy a logitech H880 universal remote. Got rid of all my other remotes since getting one. The only drawback is it is a bastard to set up, and the logitech programming web site is not super intuitive.

It wont work Col, The Logitech is an IR remote. The only remote for PS3 is an RF one. No way to control it with IR learning remote.

You have to use the PS3 remote for this one no option. Even if you have a harmony/logitech you will still have to have two remotes

Halo is over-rated and the PS3 as already mentioned was delayed because of the Blueray player, not because Sony crapped their pants over what MS had in the 360.

But I was going to get a 360 a few weeks ago, went to the shop and looked at all the games. None of them really took my fancy apart from Gears of War.

What crap? I support M$ if for no other reason Bill Gates has shown what real philanthropy is all about. i don't see the CEO of Sony starting his own foundation and donating half of his fortune to help fight disease. BG is literally wiping out entire diseases with his funding. There's a support M$ reason right there. Since it's only businesses they hurt with there anti-trust stuff (which has since been resolved) and it's human lives they are saving with the profits, microsoft all the way :p

I think you all miss the point.
Xbox360 is only version 2 wheras gaystation is up to version 3.
So the xbox360v2 eats PS2. Is xbox360v2 better than PS3, probably. But xbox360v3 will eat PS3.
You need to compare apples with apples and not oranges.

    Playstation hater :p .

That comparison isnt valid. The original playstations competition was the sega dreamcast and the Nintendo 64. The latter of which only provided moderate competition, all the good games were on playstation.
Xbox was the fellow competitor of the PS2 and apart from a handful of really top games exclusive to the xbox (seems to be the case with the 360 also) IMO the PS2 was and is better than the original xbox.

As for the the 360 to dominate the PS3 and vice versa, only time will tell. I for one will be hanging out for a little while and buying a PS3, the early 360 hype hasnt really inspired me at all.......long live the playstation :) .

i personally think consoles are crap, especially if ur playing a third/first person shooter game, asif not get a pc where u aim with a mouse that way it comes down to skill and you can aim for the head not just rely on ur nub auto aim to help u out.

but yer anyway aint about pcs, however i do love all my fighting games, car racing games etc on consoles. gears of war was a good game but would be 10x better if they made it for pc. xbox chugs hard lol sif make a game which is going to chug!! not to mention xbox live rofl, i look forward to seeing some games that are on a 40gig dvd + plasma! and the game engine is going to pwn xbox. both are buggy but what can u do

dont even get me started on halo lol i rather spend that money on food or something.

There's a game that is ported to both xbox and PC that can be played networked on both. FPS, so I agree the PC would dominate there. But, you know in halo and the like you can turn off auto-aim, just as you can turn it on in PC? I used to prefer FPS on PC, but some FPS on XBOX make very good use of the controller.

Any console is only as good

as the games released for it. I think PS3 will Easliy beat the 360 over time as the PS1 and PS2 have proved in the past. With the proven popularity and backwards compatability it will win.

as far as comparing apples to oranges i dont think that just because MS started after Sony in the console market you can say the 360 and ps3 are not in direct competition. you certainly couldnt say the 360 was released as a competitor to the PS2 and is way better than it just because its microsofts 2nd attempt.

Im a PS3 fan yes, and ill be picking mine up on friday so i guess ill find out then how good its gonna be but having played both id say the biggest difference is the games released so hopefully Sony will come through in time as they have in the past.

I have noticed that you guys are all comparing the PS3 ($1000) to the 360 ($650) , when really you could almost compare buying a PS3 to buying both a 360 AND a Wii!!! ($1050):eek: WITH wii-sports!!!

Even comparing these 2 is like comparing a $65,000 car with a $100,000 car!! You would expect much more from the more expensive one. I would certainly not say that the 360 is only 65% as good as the PS3, so therefore I believe it represents better value.

    Is PS3 > 360?
    Its debatable...but I personally prefer 360:)

    Is PS3 > 360 + Wii???
    Awww, hell no!!:D :D :D

not really....the comparing is between the three consoles available...ps3....xbox360 and wii. so price doesn't matter, its not the issue, it just means one company is charging more than the others..... you could say the same about couches......i have a choice out of three couches..... one is way more expensive than the other....and most probably for a good reason such as quality, advancement in design and so on :D so you cant take the ps3 out of the comparison  :D :D :D :D

ps...and the ps3 costs about 1600 or so to make. sony are selling at a loss atm until they find cheaper ways to make the console so you understand why they are charging 1000 and plus it has a blue ray disc player.... may not mean much now but it sure will in the future.... the 360 may be good for value but not compared to the sony.... it has so many features its amazing....much much more than the 360 and the wii put together....well thats just my two cents :D

FLAME SUIT ON....just in case :p

Cra-Z-Boy no nissan at all :(

More to the point I love how some compare the xbox 360 against something that they dont have yet.
Yeah there is the hype but its just hype I will wait to see the thing in action before I say anything about which is best
And a small note the xbox360 is being sold for around $300 less than what it costs to make

PS3 has the cell processor and Blueray.

From what I heard Metal Gear Solid 4 has nearly reached the Blueray limit something Xbox developers aren't available to do therefore developers for the sony can create higher detailed more complex games and a few years down the track you will see the difference.

Yes 360 games are better, better because its been out for about a year.
    Give the sony a chance.

as for the wii, thats shit a piece of shit. Its not even next gen.

ive had consoles since the NES, i dont hate em all together but the only games i have liked on xbox are fight night round 3, forza, and ninety nine nights. true vbevan some games have made good use of the FPS available, but i still reckon they limited by the use of the controller imo. i would love to play counter-strike against some1 on a xbox lol i would be ashamed if i died. was sponsored by telstra & internode (at seperate times) when me and my mates played lan comps =] turok on 64 was a good first person shooter game, but yer i reckon they going down hill. there is no doubt the graphics of ps3 are going to blow xbox out the water but thats the advantage of releasing theirs second.

im hanging for the new command and conquer, should look off tap on my pc! :D and dunno how a strategy game would go on a console also. http://au.pc.ign.com/objects/823/823989.html

:D :D :D :D agreed........ and the wii isn't anything new....xbox had the wireless motion thing when they brought out their first xbox but the reason it wasn't released was due to the fact no one was interested....... the ps3 will kill all

Did you know the PS3 doesnt have the facility to have a shaker in the handset ???

So no motion feedback on that or any steering wheels EVER.

From what i have read. The cell processor and the devleopment suite for the PS3 is horrendously hard to program for. The software tools are very unhelpful.

A lot of devleopers have stated that programming for the XBox 360 is a dream compared to the PS3 and is one of the reasons they have ported a lot of games to the Xbox360 and cancelled the PS3 version.

I think you will see heavy progarmming for the PS3 from Sony computer entertainment and quite a lot less from all the other external programing companies.

BTW the Xbox 360 has been in the black profit wize for over 8 months. In fact the cut down version even makes money.

The PS 3 with 20 GIG ( which we cant get here) is subsidized to the tune of USD $300 on its USD $499 retail price.

I found out the other day that Sony has now dropped the 20 GIG version and only has the 60 GIG version for sale in the US now. This retails for $599 but cost about the same to make so they lose less cash.

As I said earlier they have hacked the euro and aussie consoles. they are a shell compared to the hardware in the US units.
