We'll see. I kinda feel it will be a flop. They left it too late and I think the xbox 360 has the marketing jump on them.
The Xbox just has no longetivity, I still know people with huge piles of old Xbox 1 junk laying around that is now worthless... The PS2 was king for alot longer than that and the same will happen with PS3!
The PS3 also has a hard disk so does that mean it can record stuff off TV or is it only for game data?
But the 1st Xbox did quite well even though the PS2 had a pretty big jump on them. Oni, I haven't read anything about recording. But with being able to install Linux onto the system, I wouldn't be surprised if it could be done.
xbox only did well because you can hack the crap out of it. PS3's technology is far better than the 360's Better features, better CPU, better GPU, better connectivity - better everything and yes, I am a PS3 fan boy

I presently have an XBox and a PS2 running on my 3 metre wide screen, so it's time for an upgrade, so I've ordered a PS3 and I've lined up an XBox360, but you've gotta love blue-ray tech.

It's kinda like Supra and 300ZX. M$ released their specs first and Sony went. Holy shit boys, back to the drawing board. Probably why they kept delaying the release. Also, don't forget that XBox live is streets ahead of anything Sony have developed. It is also tried and tested, while Sony will be ironing out bugs on their equivalent system (not even sure they have one). And lastly, and most importantly, development. Almost all the stuff I've read said it's very nice that Sony have this cell processor, but developing for it is going to be a PITA. Heck, even Sony's GPU isn't as powerful as the XBox 360's when you look at it as a gameplaying unit. normal people are not going to pay $1000 for a game console. Only people who will do that are hard core gamers. That is not the market Sony really need to get. PS3 was held up because Sony couldbnt get the BD drive to work properly as well as using rubbery specs that meant continuous redesigns well into when it was meant to be shipped. They only added HDMI 1.3 at the last minute. Good luck but the man on the street will not pay that much to play games when the 360 has now 90% of the old Sony exclusive games ported to it. now. Developer are not stupid they go where the money is. ATM its to the Xbox 360. If you havent already had a look the PS3 games suck ass !! So you will be buying a new boat anchor till the good games arrive. It does seem to be a good Bluray player from all reports. But be warned. They gutted the US PS3 to make it cheaper now using a software emulator to play PS2 backward compatible games. The US PS3 palys all PS2 games properly. The aussie and european PS3 will not. They stripped the good hardware out and made our version WOrse. Sh!t I hate Sony !! LAstly Xbox live is a great on line gaming platform. The Sony PS3 spec for PS3 version isnt even finshed and the developers know it sux. You will be doing sofware up grades for years on the PS3 to fix the prerelease faults cause they rushed it
No good games for the playstation, not including the multi-platforms, think gears of war, and the soon to be halo 3, 10x the quality of any ps game, and xbox live is awesome fun to play. even the first xbox had a hard drive to store data and music etc, unlike having to buy memory cards for the ps2, the wireless controllers come in handy too, xbox all the way
bah that's nothing compared with the crap MS have been pulling over the years.. I don't care what's better (even though it is the PS3!) I wouldn't touch the XBox, except with my spit! *ptooey*
