that video is electric hicas, different system to what most of us have.

 

20mph to 70mph(dunno what that is in new money)is the operating window for hicas with a max of 2.5 degree movement, its very hard to find info on this and i cant even find the link myself now.

But yeah, like anything it can have wear in it or possibly not be strong enough to handle higher cornering forces from bigger tyres on a track etc. but in theory it shouldnt actually be operational outside of that window

 

yes but they work on the same principle and act the same in a driving situation

 

pretty sure pre 94 hicas doesnt work at a standstill, thats what i mean. I should check on mine

 

i dont know the operating paramaters for the electric system as ive never looked into it

they both dont ...pretty sure that video was activating the hicas through diagnostics just to show us how it operates.

Yep, that video is the HICAS diags through Consult tuner. I have used it before, its pretty cool to see it work.

 

Unless you track down brand new rack & tie rod ends then you are still going to be left with 20 year old steer arms connecting the wheels to the lock bar.
