Uh oh, looks like i need a NA manual speed sensor! looks like they're not interchangable and i have NA auto and TT 5 speed sensors

anyone got one or know where to find one? Nissan is no good, $380+gst and ex japan...

 

really, 380+ from nissan? ouch!

 

Are na manual and tt manual interchange able? If so I've got a na one I can swap you for a tt one

 

I believe so, I think the plastic gear wheel and internal calibration sets them apart.

Thursday's effort

Okay so progress (3 hours work)
Front bar and fenders removed
Fluids dropped
Wiring loom plugs named and pulled up windscreen
Rad and condenser out
Exhaust unbolted from headers

Big day tomorrow, starting about 9am
Remove exhaust
Remove tailshaft
Remove interior console and auto shifter
Unbolt trans and motor
Pull na motor
Clean engine bay, treat for rust?
Install smic piping
Install oil cooler
Change timing belt on tt
Change thrust bearing on 5 speed

Should be do-able, easy done if a few keen and generous zedders come over.
You will be fed and plied with beverages!

 

Sorry, can't make it - already doing an engine pull / turbo removal / EGR delete / 100K service.

 

Friday's Work

Phwarrr! What a day!

Sam, Aidan and Ross rocked up and were absolute workhorses. two nasty o2 sensors set the tone for a difficult afternoon. Even the main pulley sprocket from he'll couldn't stop us. It did cost about 2 hours and kill 3 drill bits. Angle grinder finished the job. Not pretty but effective. Everyone donated large amounts of knuckle flesh to the z gods, and Ross almost gave an eye to the exploding drill bit. Ah good times!

Anyway today removed:
Auto shifter
Exhaust
Drive shaft
Engine and gearbox
Completed 100,000 km service

Still to do:
Fit intercooler piping jigsaw
Refit timin covers
Refit aircon comp, ps pump, alternator
Fit clutch, flywheel
Change gearbox bearing and seal
Install engine and box
Install drive shaft
Install exhaust
Install AC lines and condenser
Install boost controller
Install fenders, front bar and bonnet

Anyway lots to do. Found out my f1 pressure plate is stuck in customs, no idea when I'll get that. Don't know if I should put in current clutch and risk it, or put in motor and do box when plate arrives, decide tomorrow.
