WA Perth Xmas 5speed TT swap :thumbup: December 22nd

Hi zedders,

This christmas I'm hoping to rid my z of the ghost of naturally aspirated slushboxness, and gift it a nice pair of turbos and 5 gears. Yep Na auto to 5 speed TT swap is on.

Obviously a large job but hopefully mostly plug and play cause I have a good few weeks to get all the prep done. Plenum pull, 100,000km service, TT fuel pump swap, all that.

I'm planning to start the afternoon of Thursday the 22nd December, and hope to have her back on the ground Saturday 24th (Xmas eve). I dont know how many of you have the Friday off, and know that Xmas eve can be a very busy time, so will leave this open as a 'help appreciated' thursday through saturday, whenever you can make it. I'll put on bbq, beers, xmas carrols, all that. It's remaining a flexible event till I see if/who/when can make it.

I'm in south perth about a 5 min walk from the ferry, so if we get a few together on the friday night we could head across the river for some merriment.

Hey Gareth, Not working this Xmas so will try to get up Saturday the 24th to help out. Have done this before so have a bit of an idea of some of the things that can catch you out

Looking like it'll be a warm 30's at the end of the week, everyone bring ur swimmers and a towel, there's a nice pool in the complex here. As mentioned i'll put on beverages (beers/softdrinks), and bbq. We're 50m from a bottle shop, fish and chips, indian and vietnemese, if required. this will start thursday arvo, and hopefully be knocked over by saturday. I think there'll be more than enough to do over the 2 and a bit days, already got a few members volunteering their time and knowlege. Please just drop by when works for you, each bit of experience and extra set of hands is useful!

I'll PM everyone who posts intent to come my address and contact details tonight.

Also, i have some tools, but miss some specialty items, like a 22mm deep socket to get 02s off. if anyone can think of usefull stuff, please bring.

Okay so the work list looks something like this:

• complete 100,000km service on TT motor. I've spent ages on plenum pull/new hoses/timing cover gaskets, but havnt got the timing belt off yet. I'll c how much I can get done this week but it's sitting on the floor which makes this a bit hard....will be easier once I have it on a hoist again
  
• replace gearbox throw out bearing and rear seal. Still waiting on F1 clutch to arrive.
  
• swap gearbox oil (have new redline to go in)
  
• wire in manual wiring loom. again i'll c if i can do that one this week, just need to dust off soldering iron
  
• install clutch, cut tt brake pedal. run wires for clutch switch
  
• install EBC (sit loose in cabin for now)
  
• remove bonnet, front bar, fenders
  
• tag loom (reusing NA loom atm)
  
• drop fluids, move rad and condenser
  
• remove NA engine and auto box
  
• remove NA p/s pump, alternator (new) and AC compressor (leave hooked up)
  
• remove O2 sensors from NA. one of the sensor wires on the TT got cut at some stage, and they cannot be soldered. I have 2 working in the NA, so will swap them. But they're rusted onto the TT like nothing else. Anyone got a 22mm impact socket???
  
• change P/S hardlines if required
  
• change a/c hardlines if required
  
• install tt oil cooler
  
• install SMICs and tubing
  
• install clutch slave, tubing. (clutch booster too perhaps?)
  
• clean engine bay, touch up any rust spots
  
• install NA alternator, p/s pump and ac pump
  
• drop TT engine in
  
• drop 5 speed in
  
• hook it all up
  
• ?????
  
• Profit
  

plus lots of other menial tasks. plz feel free to ammend list.
