Oran Park was going off today with huge crowds turning out to watch the first Superlap event. Three Zeds were competing, The slot car with John boston driving it, Ports, and Shifters old Zed with the new owner driving it. Slot car just missed out on the top five shootout, finishing in 6th place with a 1.15.1 lap, with two lotus elise's and three gtr's in front of it, think the top time of the day was 1.12.1, others can fill in the details. Caz posing in her next car Wayne changing tyres after a big lose in the first corner Good to see Shifters old Zed being used on the track Simons Car?, check the number plate Tony Rigolie's wrx with a turbo that could swallow you One gear lever for each shift
Damn wish I had been there but had to work Like to see some pics of the zeds on the track. Cheers Geoffo
great event Went out to see "superlap" , lots off nice cars , good to catch with fellow Z'ers and watch them on the track. The S2000 honda was awsome to watch ( always liked them ) and a special mention off the 80 serise landcrusier, ( hope wiz post a pic ) massive turbo , the same brakes as the slot car, the thing rocket around. The slot car run strong but still looked like it needed some more suspenion tuning and a coat off paint or sticker work, still a good result. If you get the chance , go and have a look at a event .
tough!!! more pics here: http://www.speedshots.com.au/gallery/othermotorsport/trackdays/superlap/?g2_page=1 well done to all who entered
Pics Man, that was an awesome event. Great cars, great track, great weather and some great driving. I took just under 900 pics at the event, however I've got two deadlines on Tuesday and a bunch more work to do so it'll be a couple of days before I can put up a decent amount in this thread. For now though, I will leave you with this one teaser:
Wow, what a huge event that turned out to be, massive crowds, corporate display stalls, hot chicks, awesome cars and a great track. Big thank you to Caroline, Wiz, Ross, JP and Tim from UAS for all the help. Had a ball mixing it up on the track, although as Wiz noted I had a bit of a mishap on the kink and ended up facing the wrong way Very odd doing laps on street tyres when you get so used to brake points, turn in and wot on semis, seems that I was down about 3 seconds on my PB. Slot car put on a show with a close finish for the final 5 shotout, JP should be even closer next time.:zlove: Here are some pic links http://www.speedshots.com.au/gallery/othermotorsport/trackdays/superlap/?g2_page=1 http://www.flickr.com/photos/28253422@N05/ Me hunting a liner turning in at suttons Looking forward to the next Superlap event, bring it on:cool2: PS thanks for the coffee and rolls Caz.
That would be a really scary sight in the rear view mirror Looks like a great day wish i could have come...work:bash:
What a brilliant event! For drivers, performance oriented workshops, race part manufacturers, performance car related business or car lovers Superlap had it all! I was wearing lots of hats all in one day. Mum, making sure any Zedders or anyone with a Zedder, or driving a zed, married to a Zed owner, or a child of one or had scrutineered a Zed ect ect had a full belly and sufficient caffeine in their system Pit crew, helping Ports Spectator/motorsport nut, watching from the corporate room/verandah that SAU had kindly supplied for us. Great move SAU! Business woman, it was awesome for business! To finally meet some of the people that I deal with over the phone, there were state reps present that I sorted some great pricing deals with, got to see some new gear thats on the market and see what others are doing. Also got to meet some of my customers for the first time which is always nice, one being 'instamatic'/Tony who was there taking pics for an American Sport Compact mag (mainly the R35GTR ) The cars there were fantasic, to have 3 Zeds out there was tops! I do believe I saw John Boston drift the slot car on a couple of the Driftland corners of the track...nice little smoke show I think he called it a powerslide, with a grin from ear to ear I saw Andrew(from Ignition) securing a video camera inside the Slot car so keep an eye out for it on Ignition DVD !! And Russ's R35GTR, Im in love.... lol I have been waiting to see this car in real life so to pull up in front of our garage and see it parked next to me was very exciting.... It feels very Zed like to sit in (should have been named Z35TT !! ), that snug cockpit feel with everything exactly where it should be, the finish of the interior was superb(not to mention the divine smell ) and I got that "I have to have one of these" feelings. On the track it was hard to believe it was full stock(except the factory speed limiter had been removed)even the base level summer street tyres! He took it to the drags the week before and it ran 11.1sec. Truely beautiful BEAUTIFUL machine. Engine bay is slightly familiar :zlove::zlove: The Landcruiser was a great example of clever engineering. To have something that big, go so fast and handle like that is amazing... never seen anything like it! It was doing 1.29sec laps It was a very memorable day! Top cars, top people :zlove: and at a top venue, Oran Park will be very sadly missed when its gone .
More pics I can see why he is faster than me, using the whole track. http://http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?05/07/2008.ORAN.SL
Here you go Yep I tried fixing but could not get to work on this forum so here is a link to SAU where it is working for some reason. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Superlap-Timeattack-Ago-t210939.html&st=1480#entry3997151
Link works fine for me... Congrats to all that competed. Looks like the event was a great success. Fantastic pics, and as already discussed, will only be faster next time around
