Has anybody been able to buy a base image programmer? website says they're only for sale to workshops.
been talking to nistune and CZP all day. Vader, they said they would reflash and update a existing nistune if the owner paid for it to be sent and sent back. They also said if they are sent a ecu they can install a new board with the updates obviously then send it back. again postage being paid for by owner and the board which isn't a bad deal. for those already possessing the nistune board and who want to update to this you will need to see a licenced dealer as there is a little bit of work involved or alternatively . BUY a spare ecu, Buy a new nistune board, get it installed and your tune flashed over onto the new one. then post your ECU over and get it updated then keep as a spare or sell .. That's what im going to do, so soon ill have a ECU with 8 bit updated nistune for flex and launch control for sale. I also got some more info on the launch control feature. anyone interested in that if you have me on facebook hit me up or if theres enough interest ill type the thing out on here for everyone
There is not much involved in updating the rom image on the board itself (if your licenced that is) or do you need the base image programmer board to change the complete base image?
You should just be able to get get it done at Autotech or UAS shouldn't you? I guess it might not be that much cheaper than postage the US if they charge labour.
no I don't think toshi will be able to update the firmware .. possibly do a reflash and update the files.
Thanks Procky. I spoke to Matt a few months ago, and he said they will put a base tune on if I pay post there and back, so that's the plan. ECU is out already.
Pretty sure there is a guy in Perth that does them. The guys on SilviaWA all seem to use him, waiting on him to return a PM to get mine done.
WA joint I mentioned. $400 for the board install and base config, and a license of NIStune is an extra $200.
Not sure, never looked at Nistune before so don't know what the old prices were. That said in WA we always pay more.
To clarify So my understanding is that you can reflash the ROM and replace the bin files (if you have the licence) but need the programmer board to update the firmware (another firmware chip inside) for the flex fuel upgrade (meaning the ECU would have to be opened and the programmer board plugged in) Is that right? Am I also right in suggesting Vader has a programmer board? (obviously matt the genius has one - lol) JC
No, I don't have a programmer board. I only own the Nistune daughter board the same as mostly everyone else. I don't even own the Nistune software. My understanding is that as far as Nistune ownership goes, it is something like this: Nistune Board owner Software owner (Personal) Software owner (Workshop) Programmer board (and Workshop software) owner Level 1 is for drivers Level 2 is tinkerers (because you can only work on a limited number of board serial numbers) Level 3 is for professional BIN file writers (i.e. Dyno and tuning shops including Toshi) Level 4 is a full workshop that has decided to buy a programmer and also be able to charge people to upgrade not only the BIN file, but also the program. I'm at level 1 because I don't want to blow up my engine.
Spoke to Matt today. There are no Z32s using it yet, so maybe I'll be the first. My ECU is on its way to them now.
