also does anyone know how much a fully dressed VG30DETT weighs yet? Seems to be a very difficult thing to find and I also doubt the 135kg figure.

You need to change the cam to get some good numbers, I know of one cam, exhaust, otr, tuned ls1 making 316rwkw and another with a slightly larger cam making 334rwkw. Both of these have stock fuel systems, and have only be apart enought to change the cam and pushrods.

Cam, pushrod and spring sets are around $1000, tune is around $600 and all the gaskets are re-useable. Add $2000 for an exhaust and extractors, $600 for otr and your set. For around $4000 to 4500 you can have 300kw+ on the ground and be running 11's.

im not calling you a liar but i think you are exaggerating. a tune usually runs more than 600 and a cam swap is not DIY for alot of people so there is installation cost there.

Also there is a shit load of more gear, clutch and suspension stuff needed to run 11's too. so again, theyre great engines but lets keep it accurate.

These are not lies or an exageration of the truth. Both these cars are street registered daily drivers running pump fuel.

The 316 rwkw car is a VU SS ute, stock suspension and clutch. Tune cost $580 at powertorque 5 months ago. Car has run 11.78 at 116mph on 19" rims through a 6 speed manual and std diff. I will give you one thing, the clutch has since been upgraded as repeated abuse killed it.

These numbers are not exagerted, cam is a XHR275-14, comp pushrods, comp 918 springs, K and N cold air, pacey tri y's and twin 2.5 exhaust.

Cam choice is critical, alomost every back yarder gets it wrong and looses power. LS1 are easy to get power from, but even easier to get wrong.

The onwer and I spec'd and built the engine with all stock internals and cylinder heads. Only parts not oem are cam, pushrods and valve springs. The engine cost $5800 to completely rebuild including machining, extractors, exhaust and tune. Add a couple of grand if we had to pay for labour.

The new combo going into this car is a 402 ls1, 945 cam, cnc heads and 60lb injectors. We are expecting 450rwkw out of this on 98.

by exaggeration i mean cost wise, a maffless tune at powertorque cost 1100 retail. call them and fine out. a touch up tune may be less but your first tune will cost a grand minimum.

your guy must be a hell of a driver because 19;s would give a shit 60 and that terminal is not that high for an 11.

Either way i guess the same can e said about anything, there are zeds here that have done 12's on stock turbos' and a 310 rwkw car that has done a 14... lol

that 11 sec VU, whats his username on LS1? out of interest

That tune was a maffless at powertorque. Unless they have doubled the prices latley, it cost $580. We installed the engine and drove it to them, 4 hours later it was done.

He is possibly on ls1tech but I am not sure, I know he's not on any of the local forums. Yes he is a good driver, has been racing carts since he was very young.

And 60 litres of fuel only gets you 1/4 mile.

Dude, I've been building vg's for quite some time now and i've never come across a vg with 600rwhp on stock internals. There's no way that you can hit 600hp on the stock internals all day every day with 25 or more pounds of boost and not have anything break. Especially if you think you're going to get that on pump fuel.

I'm sure standard valve springs would be fine too... because you know, standard valve springs and lots of boost is just awesome. [IMG]

I've seen reports of 500hp in the states on stock internals, but that lasted all of 6 months before it blew. Yes they're a strong motor from factory but you screaming numbers of 600+ with an unopened bottom end without anything to back it up is just stupid.

Oh and I'm sure that the standard head bolts are going to cope with the amount of pressure that a 700hp motor will put out.

When it comes down to it, yes they're strong, but not as strong as what you think they are.

Oh and if you want to debate this further, please just send me a PM... there's no point doing it on a public forum.

My mate had a VY SS, had all the bolt ons, it didnt have cam work but it had mild head work and it made 300rwkw. So im guessing with a cam and more extensive head work it would've cracked 320rwkw ?

Im sorry bud, but there is no way in hell stock rods can cope with anything like 700hp!!

The most ive ever seen is 515hp and lasted all of an 1 full throttle run before the rods turned into chewing gum.

I dont know where your pulling your figures from, but if you can show me a dyno print with anything close to those figures on stock internals (with proof) ill eat my bridgestones!

BHP and HP are different remember, but yes that does seem to be a huge exaggeration
