any idea why it happened? how was your oil pressure on the track?

Note for Tekkie: mate, i thought the "Go-pro" vision of S-D was pretty good .... as was your post of your camera ... where do you see the differentiation in the two cameras .. ??

 

the oil pressure was good, but that does not mean the 1 or 2 cylinders are getting oil , i could have got some rubbish in it over the years , lets not forget the bottom end is 10 years old , and has never bean apart in the 10 years , its a sham that it happened now, to be honest, but it is what it is , the heads are 6 years old, the car has been race on heaps of track and quarter mile that many time , in fact im happy with it, just bad timing i guess , it happens to pop now

All I can say is what you are seeing is NOT the camera output. Its the squashed YOUTUBE version. And thats looks pretty crap.

When you upload to Youtube in HD, it automatically makes 5 different quality videos. Most of those look SHITE. CLICK ON THE COG IN THE bottom right of the YOUTUBE screen and select the 720P version. Thats closer to the upload quality.

The video off the Hard drive is very very good.

IMO the difference in picture quality between the GOPRO and the Contour is minimal. The utility of the CONTOUR (shape) makes it much much easier to use. The GOPRO shape is testing. A square box isnt the best shape for helmet cams or most other uses IMO.

the driver briefing was very hard to hear. I was right at the back, and couldnt hear a thing. Anyway, as a committee, I'm sure we will have a post Nationals discussion and Ill bring up the issues you have raised.

Wow massive weekend packed with fun and action. Apart from a really sore back holding me back I had fun and a challenge on the track dodging Datto's with a few near misses. Very hard to get a clean lap. Most of them don't go to the track much and to make matters worse they have missing mirrors or hanging down mirrors. They over take on corners and they shut the door on you. I have another vid, which I will upload over the next few days where I was run off the track by a Datto 1600.

John it was a pleasure to meet you and the slot car, the one zed I was most looking forward to seeing!! Such a machine! I will send you what I have of your slot car, I took a full length video of you getting ready in the zed, start up, and line up on the grid but unfortunately I held the phone the wrong way and covered the mic for most of it

I'm definitely going to come up for a visit to see the shop and maybe get a master tune session?

And when you do, I'll be the one processing it . Didn't get to meet many forum members as I was on the outside of the circuit most of the day taking pics, and on Sunday was judging cars all day. Re Jedi's post above - I was only judging 1600's, 1200's and others from the 60's/70's ... so I plead not guilty!

I hope to get some track day pics up soon.

The 2015 Qld organizing team asked the question at the presentation dinner - did we want the faster track or the slower track. I think 99% said faster so they will apply for that layout. Surely it's not a longer straight than Conrod?????

BigCol, do you do regular motorsport events? ie professionally? Some of those motion shots were very good, very difficult to get the car sharp with a slower shutter speed. Only suggestion I could offer is try and find an angle that provides a background iconic to the circuit, or full of color, even though it's blurred it'll add context to the shot. But these are as good or better than many of the regular official photographers you see at race events.

And Rob your shot of the slot car was also pretty damn good!
