I had a look for the subframe bushes & came across the following http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=404463 http://forums.nicoclub.com/are-the-j30-and-300zx-subframe-bushings-the-same-t511477.html http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/r...-s14-install-thread-30-pictures-anti-56k.html http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=363457 From the posts in those threads, i think the part number that i posted in Rob's GB thread would work...any opinions? Abraham
The last post from one of the above threads quotes SPL as saying; "The main difference on the rear suspension is just the subframe bushings -- S13 and R32 subframe bushings are the same but Z32 is different"
Shane i did read that, hence why i posted that aswell. However there is no further explanation as to how the zed ones are different from SPL. Plus if over in the states, there seem to be quite a few running the bushes from a silvia/skyline, then surely that is something i would be interested in looking into, as it would help a lot of us especially when our zeds are 20+ years old Abraham
Afaik nismo USA used to sell the s13 subframe bushes for the z32 with some sort of spacer arrangement but from what I've read it didn't work very well. The issue that arises is that some cars use 4x of the same bushes for each corner while the z32 uses 2 different types of bushes for the front and rear.
Seems to be a bit more interest in the subframe bushes than I originally thought, so went out and took some measurements and compared the subframe bushes I ordered with one in a stock subframe. These are the bushes that I ordered. Out of a Skyline or something which uses 2 different bushes front and rear like the z32, while the silvia uses 4 of one of these type of bushes. Interesting to see that one bush has essentially hollow sections around it and extends further out than the other. Oem bushes, again one stands slightly further out than the other. Now measuring the length of the inner tubes, you can see that both the nismo bushes are the same length, while the z32 ones are a different length. Looks like this is probably a no-goer guys. Best option is probably just to get some subframe collars and put the job off for another 10 years until the bushings start to disintegrate.
Thanks Ryan for that. I'm still curious as to how did others fit & use the silvia bushes & have no issues? Since you know a lot more about zed suspension than myself, the nismo bushes being shorter, what sort of issues can that cause if installed on a zed? Abraham
Read my post above. The us guys used some sort of spacer arrangement. Changing the subframe angle can affect anti squat I guess.
Not uncommon to use collars to change the angle of the snout of the diff to improve traction. I had a look at the links where people have suggested using these bushes and while lots of people suggest XYZ should fit I don't think there were posts from anyone who has actually done it...
True that. I'm sure it could be done if you really wanted to but I'm going down another path now. Anybody with a skyline want to buy these bushes aha.
Whiteline has this available for subframe bushes, which according to the description is like solid bushes but is flexible like rubber bushes http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...&Car_Type=300&UID=2014031613181060.241.87.172 Abraham
