At least there is someone who has considered this design before now. Unfortunately according that that website, their gauge pods angle the gauges toward the driver - in LEFT HAND DRIVE cars. Will be interested to see if anyone can confirm if they are made for RHD as well.

What good timing! With a few free hours on the weekend and Monday night, and FINALLY getting a console trim piece to use, I completed a prototype which fits nicely in to the console lower DIN slot. Held in place by either two small screws at the back of the pod, or simply a couple of small blobs of silicon.

However, due to the angle of the front of the console piece, there is a need to trim the bottom section of the bottom DIN slot so the gauge body(s) can fit flush with the console face.

I have 2 other new design gauge pods which I will be providing to my fabricator in about 3 weeks time and will give him this design as well as long ther is enough interest. But due Xmas & New Year shutdowns, I can't seen any of the gauge pods being ready before end of January.

Pics? I will upload a couple (phone shots) tonight and provide a link.

    Here is my EOI.

The 300degree branded ones are only manufactured for the LHD.
A RHD version would indeed be an answer I've been after for a long time.

thanks for that info ... however, if we are going for a

custom moulded/made/designed unit, i fail to appreciate why trimming of the lower din should be necessary .. for mine, it needs to be a snug fit w/o other mods ...???? ..

.. suggest you make contact with "angrybear" to see how he managed to get the 52mm gauges aligned ... presumably w/o the need for trimming ....???

    .. just a thought .....

Sorry for the delay in uploading the pic. Here is the pic of the lower DIN gauge pod. Crappy phone photo but that's all I had available before I had to give back the console piece I borrowed. It slots into the bottom slot easily. The front of the pod is flush with the console and if you look at the console in your own car you will see that if you want to fit gauges that sit flush with the console face, the gauge body may foul against the bottom part of the lower DIN space.

I haven't actually confirmed this 100% yet. I'm not prepared to cut holes in my gauge pod prototype. I'll pull a mould off the prototype and make another one to cut 52mm holes in that one to see... Angrybear may have his gauges recessed in the DIN slot rather than having them flush with the front of the console.

If there is still enough interest, I will make a small batch and retail this design for $75. But if I had 10 people interested, I am prepared to give a discount of 20% - at $60 for the first batch made.

please excuse my confusion .. but do you intend that

the gauges sit flush with the pod .. or angled towards the driver ....???

for mine, the only real option is to be angled towards the driver ....

Yes - the front of the pod is flush with the console. So the gauges are as well. angrybear has his gauges the same way as my gauge pod. Here's a link to the pic he posted :

If it's not your thing though, no problems.

A two-off design (one prototype plus one for Steve) has been made and given to Steve. Hopefully he will show the design and pics of the installed gauges soon.

I will probably be getting a small batch of them made but lead time is approx 2 months.

FYI - Once the 3 x 52mm holes are drilled in the pod, there's not much left of the pod, as it's a tight fit tpo get 3 gauges in hte lower DIN. The console piece will also need a slight trim as the gauges foul again the bottom part of the lower DIN when installing.

I wont have mine wired up for a while as have a big project going on under the hood with plenum polishing/parts replacement etc.

What I can do though is take some pics of the gauges in the pod and in the console as it will eventually look but without the gauges being lit up.

will be interested to see the proto type pics ....

.. i gave up waiting and ended up having an A pillar pod installed ...

but could always change to a centre din pod ....

There wasn't eactly an overwhelming response to the proposed 300ZX DIN pod design so I've taken my time and pod designs for other cars have taken higher priority to get completed.
