I totally understand, mate. He said he wasn't able to answer my calls coz "he lost his phone" (or something to that extent). And he wasn't able to reply to my PM coz "he doesn't know what he's doing". That explains it all. I just wish I knew before he said "yes, I'll deposit the money and send you the balance on Monday" as I DO value such things as word of honour. Thanks anyway.
What this guy said. Don't be intimidated by other forum members, Arvin shouldn't have gone completely off topic and turned your help thread into a personal attack against you. Good luck getting some help with your Zed, there are plenty of knowledgeable members over your side of the country who should be able to give you plenty of help. Maybe consider organising and holding a tech day? Put on a bbq and before you know it you'll have more help than you can poke a stick at. @Arvin, so what if the guy pulled out of the sale. Maybe he didn't do the right thing by you by not informing you that he didn't want the dash any more, but as a seller you have to expect things like this to happen. It's all part of the territory (for lack of better words). It's not like you sent the item and didn't recieve payment for it. If you have a problem with a member, simply contact a mod and get things sorted out rather than acting all childish and publicly flaming the new kid. You've had a bad experience with him? Don't sell anything to him in the future then, simple as. I think the mods need to go through this thread and do some cleanup...
In all fairness, he did. Yesterday. When I called him to get an update of what's happening and he happened to answer my call. Then I knew he doesn't want it anymore.
Yeah gotta say, it really shits me too when things like this happen... Have had another member "Perth" message me about some turbos, was gonna come down on the weekend then couldnt make it. Asked me to hold them for a couple weeks till he had some more cash, waited for a couple weeks... And got a "ahh its all good, I dont need em anymore". Same member then needed some heads. Was supposed to come around the next day to pick them up. I went and picked them up from a mates house ready for collection. Again, no call... Obviously didnt need em anymore... Although it pissed me off, Its not worth worrying over. I just will refuse to help this member in any way shape or form from now on. I guess the moral of the story here is although the forum is a pretty tight little community and most of the members here have consideration for others but bear in mind that some people are just inconsiderate/unreliable or just don't give a shit. Or maybe, just maybe, they really have had a bout of unimaginable crap go on and they really couldnt make contact. That being said, I generally wont lift a finger until the money is in the bank and I won't pursue the "would be" buyer for the sale as it is just frustrating. I'm sure that it is possible Reggie lost his phone and didnt know how to use PM's, but it does seem unlikely. Reggie, I guess u know already that people don't like to be messed around whether it be for a meeting, sale of goods or any promise. Unfortunately, it has been made into a public discussion and does not look good for you. I'd suggest you just apologize for the inconvenience and move on. Everyones happy. Arv's, If anything, I guess its just a lesson learnt. I do feel for ya with the time and effort you put in finding a box, packaging it up etc. I know it all too well. I agree with you Arvin probably shouldn't have flown off the handles, but its not like he was boxing up a few bits of plastic or pipes. It was an Entire Dash as a gesture of good faith and to aid in this guy getting it as soon as possible he went out of his way to pack it up early, get quotes and make sure it was ready to go as soon as the funds / deposit came through. If I was the buyer I'd be extremely appreciative for that level of reliability and commitment to a sale. I'd be equally pissed if I went to all that effort and was treated the same. And before someone comes up with it... the excuse 'you should have waited for a deposit' is such a f*cking joke. I thought thats what separated us from other car enthusiasts, that we take that extra mile when we can even for new members. I agree with Chilledpain. Regardless of what anyone says, this is going to hang over this new guy now for some time. He just needs to apologize and move on. MoulaZX
