Hi everbody, im Ryan and im originally from scotland, been here for about 6 1/2 years and i have always loved cars :). Well ive decided to start my build thread here after owning the car since march 2012, i bought car completed stock with 234000kms on the clock. Its a 1992 j-spec non turbo manual 2 seater targa top, for my first car i was over the moon picking it up for 5K, Now i think about it i probally paid to much :p.

I used to car to get from work and tafe for about 6 months and in that time i didnt really change anything. I got sick of looking at my faded and chipped windscrean strips so i decided to hit them with bumper and trim paint and it made a big difference

    [IMG] :p.

Once i got a job i bought a set of rims, my mate also got a set aswell

I then started reading about z32's online and there cooling problems and decided to upgrade the radiator, hoses, fancy braided fuel lines, new oil and filter and flushing of the radiator.

I decided i didnt like the way the parkers only took up a small space on the side lights so i moved them to the fog lights which never worked.

I think it turned out pretty good

Added a new steering wheel because the old one looked crap and i hated the way it felt, bought it off ebay :p

I started looking at all the photos of z32's with wire tucked bays, and i always hated how big and ugly the fuse box is. So i got bored and one thing led to another :p

It worked out well because all i have to do is take out the side indicator and the fuse box is right there, although i will be moving it in the future.

Installed new lights in the dash and installed a fire extinguisher mostly for show and just because i could :p

I got the idea to swap a tt motor into my 300 so that could drive it when i get off my p's, i wanted to just buy a motor but i ended up at a pickles auction where this sat
    [IMG]
Its a j-spec 1989 tt targa top 2+2 with 106000 kms and i ended up buying it for 1700, got it towed back to my house and began stripping it.

I striped the whole car down and sold most of the parts, i kept the engine and coilovers. This saved me alot of money and the red zed got moar low :)

I also got my hands on a pair of double clear tail lights and front and rear indicators :)

Also trimed back and sanded the radiator shroud, just need to paint it now

Thats pretty much how the car sits at the moment oh and i took it to the skid pan day :p

    The shopping list :)))

    Exterior
    2k front bar with lip
Twins type 2 rear with difuser
    Winfactory wing
    kaminari skirts

    Full wiring tuck
All holes in engine bay welded up
Fuse box, ptu, power steering under nose panel
    All deletes

    Some inspiration

Great work so far. Get yourself a add-on lower lip to cover up the missing paint on the front.

Am sure by now that somebody's pointed out to you that you have 2+2 rear mufflers on a 2+0, hence why they hang so low. No amount of shortening the hangers gets them to fit properly

Nice to see another tuck fan on here. Good work so far, keep it up. The fuel filter is an easy one to get rid of too.

    Passenger powered seat

Well i finally got around to doing it and was alot easyer than expected.
So i bought a driver seat off of stephen (twothumbsup) the plan was to use the bottom half with all the motors and swap over the back rest with a passenger seat so that the controls to fold the seat are on the correct side.

There is a bolt holding the backrest on each side and a pin/clip

I Undid the bolt and pryed off the clip from the rod on both sides

Easyest way is to use a screw driver and just lever it off. There is also the power cable that powers the backrest of the seat to make it move back and forward, i just cut the cable. Get the new passenger side backrest and install it.

Now to under the seat, i unclipped all of the connections because they have to be moved to the other side of the seat. There is a little rod that you bend back, also you may have to loosen the bolt that holds the rail so that the bigger connectors can fit through. Once all is done and the controls are unscrewed its a simple matter of moving it to the other side and feeding the cables back through again. I screwed the actual bracket into the steel that you can feel by pressing the fabric.

Thats the chair done its just the matter of wiring it into power, all i done was cut the loom out of a donor car and feed it from the passenger under seat to the centre console. Then find the loom that contrils the drivers seat and splice into each wire.

I Matched the colours with the new loom and soldered them together taped it up and tucked it back down. This way you have two plugs that connect to each other and makes it alot easyer.

Fit the chair into the passenger and connect and bolt everything back up.

Three things to consider doing this, the seat itself sits closer to the centre console than the passenger rails. The seatbelt is the other, you can drill a hole through the rail and weld a bolt on or you can bend the seat belt just abit and bolt it to where the rails bolt to the car. By cutting the loom earler it deceases the controls to move the backrest foward or back but it can be controled by the manual roller :p Kinda wish i took more photos, but ill get better at this the longer i do it :). Ill take a picture of the final product tomorrow. [TIS]

Wonder if there would be a noticeable difference in how close the seat sits to the centre console/how good the finish would be overall if you were crazy enough to ship a drivers side seat over from the states?

    tinjek The Red Zed

Well heres what it looks like and how close it is to the centre console

It just touchs but also i cant put it all the way back because i have a amp mounted there. For now i am happy with it

    Smoothed timing covers

I started to fill and smooth the timing covers, alot of sanding.

I filled in a couple of holes and ill wait till tomorrow until sanding again and giving it an undercoat :zlove:

Have started the whole tucked bay thing myself & just completed stage one of probably three stages. Very tedious, annoying work but very rewarding :zlove:

    Aiv removed

Removed the aivs from both sides of the wheel arches, easyer job to do.

All the crap that got pulled off

I also raised the coilovers and put on the standard wheels to make it easier to work on.

    Wiring

So i have decided that before the engine comes out i want to move the fusebox and ptu to the passenger side footwell. The reason i want to this before i pull the engine is so that i can test everything i have done, this is because there is going to be alot of cut and extended wires so better safe than sorry.
I didnt have much time or energy today so i decided to unwrap the loom and pull apart the fuse box to scare myself

Thats how i left it :p
