Hey guys i bought a twin turbo 300zx weeks ago with the turbos disconnected to save on fuel, but it does not, it seems to eat petrol like theres no tommrow compare with my other 300zx with turbos on. On my turbo 1 from filling up the reserve tank with $10 it gave me easily about 45km before it went bone dry as i was testing it out. And this one from filling $10 from filling it from the reserve tank it only gave me about 23km and it hits dead. This has all be done by driving normally not thrashing my cars. I checked the fuel lines seems to be no fuel leak, what could be the problem here how can a non turbo version eat petrol up so easily. Could it be that its got dirty fuel injectors, or a faulty 02 sensor, what about PCV does that also eat petrol if it needs to be replaced. I tried to locate PCV for both of my 300zx as i suspect they mite need changing, but no luck.

Anyone here know where i can get PCV for my turbo cars, repco and supercheap are pretty much idiots they have no idea which ones fit in my car. Also has anyone tried Nulon total fuel system cleaner, it suppose to clean out the fuel injectors and dirty inlets and so on. But im pretty skeptical about there stuff for $20 is it worth it, but u need a full tank of petrol to make it work. Do any of their products work or are these companys just trying to riot us, cause these additives seems to good to be true.

a healthy fuel system will NEVER need topping up.

Just like coolent, fuel is recycled through the engine and returned to the tank.

if you're using fuel you must have a leak in the fuel system somewhere.

Check your Targa's and tghe glove box. THese are the primary places fuel leaks begin.

A turbo car would probably use more fuel if the turbos are disconnected?.It's got me f#$$$ how you can disconnect a turbo ?.Maybe you are trying to take the mickey out of us or someone has taken you for a ride ?.

The last thing you do when you have purchased a 300zx is an economy run. How does disconnecting the turbos save fuel? Suggest you swap your 300zx with a mid eighties corolla, change the speedo for a calender and hope that life's not too long

Ok, TT have bigger injectors than NAs and a lower compression and your not running the turbos Correct.
So the Engine has to suck to make power Not like when the turbos do for it.
Same thing happened to a mate with his EXA when the turbo died, he drove for a week or 2 and was twice as bad on fuel and NO power, like a desiel from the 70s, hook them turbos back up and see how it go's

I could be completely wrong so don't flame me lol, but...

Turbo engines are designed to work with turbos, if you remove them not only will you have less power than the NA version (because compression ratio is very low), but your fuel economy will suffer as the fuel is not being burnt very efficiently. (does your car smell like it's running rich?)

If you never boost, then it is my understanding that turbos actually improve fuel economy.

You'd think NIssan would have thought about this and produced some kind of 300ZX with no turbos in it

Oh no no no, of course not, this one is just a little bit ahead of those usual clowns, you see, he believes he will / should get better fuel economy if he disconnects the turbos from his TT Zed...

    "turbos disconnected"

You're going to have to explain yourself there. Are they physically removed from the manifolds? If so, how the **** does your car even run?

PCV is different to fuel system. You can buy a complete PCV kit at www.conceptzperformance.com -do this when you plan to do a plenum pull.

Nulon make good products, but the redline one is better. That said I don't expect it will fix your problem.

What do you mean by turbos disconnected?

Slapstikz: I'ts good that you are trying to learn more about your car, but the main issue that always seems to come up is that your turbos are disconnected.
This is the most likely cause of your problems.

To help others out, take some pics of your car's engine bay, show us what exactly is disconnected, and then some people here can help you to save your fuel economy.

Turbo cars are tuned to have turbos. So your turbos need to be reconnected. Let's address the root cause of all your problems.

    Why ???

Why would you disconnect turbo's on a turbo car .
Next question is How do you disconnect them unless you take them out .
In my opinion the best way to create good fuel economy with a healthy turbo, or even non turbo vehicle would be to start with the angle of the right foot.
Just my 2 cents worth, Andy

it never boosts past the 0 goes up to it and it stops, i bought this car off a guy who said to me he had the turbos disconnected at the wastegates but are still there, but i have yet to reconnect them.
