Arashi I am someone who has had an attempt at building a wild custom car, never got it finished due to money and the authorities continuously changing the goalposts, however I have sat in the sideli8nes watching your pics etc for the last year or so with quite a bit of interest (a bit like the original poster here i suspect), I drive a Z with a C1 veilside copy that is total crap but am not in the position to replace the offending bits, I in fact am quite fond of said kit, I am not a fan of your Kit but am a fan of someone who tries to do something along these lines, if you can make the distinction. My only real problem here started with the reposts of your old pics (which I could deal with) followed by the photoshoping and ending with your sig. The real life pics are love/hate but that most can deal with that. the basic theme photoshops are OK top give people an idea but the way you have presented them to me makes you appear to be more into the photoshop world (and there is a place for this I will admit, I even can see an art form arising from it), you would be better off doing some cad drawings (look up freecad its Free!!!) and 3d models (3dmax-milkshape etc). Finally the sig takes away all seriousness anyone may attribute to this project and by default that reflects on the way they look at you.

This all being said I am going to disappear back into my troll cave to continue to watch this thread.

they are so curvilinear man, the Z is mostly a linear design like a lambo, id say it would be easier to redesign more linear panels than the complex curves you want to replicate. you have to take into consideration the characteristics of the excisting frame. get yourself a panel beating apprenticeship and you'll get the skills to replicate the panels out of steel. its not as hard as you think if you have the knowledge, tools and equipment and plenty of patience, then after you do your time open up a custom shop. i had a friend do his electricians apprenticeship at 35, but was already working and had his degree in electronic engineering.
and if you change things like lights then that gets expensive and tricky to get the car approved for road use. basically dont touch the lights or the chassis.

I wont go into the details but technology today has made it possible to make replica curves and to get away with plastic panels overlaid on the existing aluminum body, as a huge short cut.
Making steel panels would be best, but not many people will pay extra for the work put in.

Also Imagine if someone was to make replica Ferrari headlights? who could tell the difference, a cop?

Ive had great success with photoshop as 90% of the mock ups I make turn out looking the same on the car after.

Learning 3d programs now will only delay the car and the sig was from a joke in another thread, but since it looks so nice next to that muscle car, its a keeper.

some replicas just dont do themselves any justice.

    check this out:

a lambo replica that used toyota and mazda gear and a holden V6 engine. what a waste.
you will have something that looks as beautiful as a lambo with the handling of a camry and the power of a standard family commodore.

at least if someone wants to make a replica like this, use something like the Z at the least as a base so you have a decent running gear to start off with.
otherwise your pretty much making a lambo shopping trolly to take the kids to school in and park at coles. WTF o.0

replica's always look a little different dont they, i mean even if the body is millimetre perfect the wheel spacing and track width will never match perfectly and the body's just dont seem to sit like the real thing.

People cut Pontiac Fieros or Toyota MR2's in half and extend it by 8-10 inches to get the right dimensions for Lambos or Ferrari's and the windshield angle is also important making it look real.
This company makes the best replicas specially because it assembles so easy.

anyway bro, speaking from experience, i've worked as a mechanic, panel beater, done a panel beating course and worked with a metal fabricator who did anything from his own panel repairs to manufacturing his own industrial slashers, tip truck bodies, flat trays for his kenworth and a custom trailer with custom made rollers for his Speed Boat to say just a few (the same guy i was talking about earlier), i personally despise people who constantly say that something cant be done when there are some people who with determination can do almost anything they put their mind to.

if its what your into, keep it up. But Careful with the Z, You'll find it hard to improve on perfection, It's Against God's Will!!!

These 2 quotes take the cake.

I have a gf so thats irrelevant. Im actually studying law now for other reasons which i wont discuss with the likes of you.

Meanwhile you sit at home unemployed playing in the grass with paper and glue. nice.

doesn't that make you look like an idiot..

and i cant believe these news guys are being fooled so easily..sigh

Im also fascinated by Arashi's design.

Would like to see it completed too.

Like when ppl do things themselves and think out of the box.

As an experiment of creativity fair enough.his car his money his time.

BUT saying that i never do that to my z or put a kit like it on it.
I dont want my z to look like aston martin or jaguar or some fake lambo or ferrari. I want it too look like z cause thats what it is and always will be. Looks best as itself.

Want an aston or ferrari well buy a 1.3l toyota starlet get 3 jobs and save to buy the real thing.

So arashi get it done lets see how good it turns out.not saying i buy one not my thing.

Tip if i was making a body kit i probably use expendable foam. It cuts and sands quite well while being fairly strong and light.

There was a power point going around emails of a merc being made into something realy ugly. I hate it but the effort and skill that went into it was impressive. They used expandable foam.
If i find it ill post a link to it. Lots of pointers for making or modding ur own kit

Now can someone please make a nissan r390 replica :D ill buy that

how is anyone getting fooled Murci? the guy shows a little creativity, he doesnt have to study law to deserve to breath...

some people are genuinly interested in his work, if your just going to put him down then whats the point in that... noone asked you about your gf or your career goals so i dont see how any of that is relevant.

dont hate man, this guy has character

Amen, but if someone want to have a go its probably better than some newb driver having the car and wrapping it around a poll. at least it will have some form of a life. foil or not

    mate no ones fooled.

I will never buy or do kit car unless its a 99% replica of a car that cant be bought. Hacking real cars to look like something else never comes right. Close but still wrong.

Example 240z hacked to look like 250gto replica. Looks ok till u see the real thing than u realise u f up a nice 240z and stuck with a mongrel that noone wants.

Improving z32 looks usualy goes in negative direction.i personaly dont think it needs improving.

All i said i like when ppl do things on their own. I dont like his kit but i like to see how it ends up.

I like doing things my way and dont usualy follow.
Proven it on my 260z build. Now ppl copy me.

Been told im a fool for hacking up a 240z to install rb26dett and awd. Well my car my dosh my time. I want a crazy s30 240z and thats it. May be hacking it but performance of it will be on another level. It was destined for scrap so i saved it regardless.

    Anyway not defending anyone.

You see making an RB26 240z with awd is actually cool... as opposed to paper mache 'body kits' (i use that term rather loosely too)
