i have a big python system in my zed because i know how easy it is to break into them! almost everytime i work on my car i end up having to break into it! anti-hijack locks the doors when the ignition is turned on and windows go up when its locked... thankfully when the key is still in the ignition it takes me less than 10 seconds to get in with a flat head screw driver and my 'special tool'! and no damage lol.

immobilisers are a must in zeds because they are soo easy to get into. i even put mine in myself to make sure its done right. and hidden well, its not difficult to bypass an immobiliser if it's not hidden properly

I left my keys hanging in the ignition.... Locked the car with the spare set..... put the spare set away...
Broke in and started the car with the keys that were in the ignition

My 'test' was just to see how difficult it would be to gain access if the keys were locked in the car accidently, NOT to actually "steal the car" type of break in....

Even so...... the interior contents are obviously a huge target ( stereo / amps / glovebox & console contents etc etc ) so access to them even with the car locked up is frightenly easy

    Again...
I didnt want to do any damage to my car in my tests, so I was ultra careful.... a real thief would'nt care and would be way faster again than I was.

As for breaking in and driving away without the keys...

A few weeks back I watched a guy break into a 350Z after the owner lost his keys while on the beach ( dropped in the sand somewhere)....
The guy ( RACV service tech ) took about 3 mins to have the car running and 'drivable'.... break in, disable steering lock and alarm system, started !

When I had a yak to Mr. RACV, he told me on average he did around 5~6 of these type of breakins a week, and they are generaly Sat/Sun jobs when he's called out.... all usually due to the keys being lost on the beach !

    Sadly....
I cant see that our Zeds would be any more difficult :(

On a brighter note..... took me 15mins to break into my shed and retreive my keys
    :D

Atleast the shed gives me some security over that of the Zed
    :D

    LOL, fair enough

Just hope the RACV dudes dont pass on their "skills" to family members or friends who have less honest means of acquiring cars

    Cheers!
