Help needed to break into my Zed

    Keyless entry required.

My 89 manual NA Zed was parked on the driveway with it's only key in the ignition switch (switched off), windows up, doors and boot closed and bonnet up. I removed the ageing battery and connected a new one.

Then the alarm (which has never worked before) activates - siren beeps loudly and CLUNK - both doors locked. Unfortunately, before this I had no idea the car had remote locking as I never got a controller for it when I bought it and assumed it was just an alarm.

Now I'm locked out of the Zed, cars behind it, no remote, no key and not happy.

    Options I'm considering:
    1. RACQ with slim jim
    2. Windscreens O'Brien to remove screen/hatch
    3. Me with hammer to remove quarter glass
    4. Me to punch in hatch key block and ?
    5. Break open a slab ... this is gonna be long and painful

Any others I'd appreciate as the cruize is in two weeks.

    locked out

    Hi Guys,
I too have locked my keys in the car, unforntunetly when i bought the car, the previous owner only had 1 set of keys so now im screwed.

Luckily, if i cant find a way to break into the car, the windscreen needs replacing so if worst comes to worst i can get a guy out to replace the windscreen and at the same time reach in and get my keys out of the ignition :)

Id rather not wait that long (dont have the $$ as yet to replace the windscreen) and as i was doing work on the car, all my tools are in there, which i need!!
I know its best not to advertise this sort of topic, so if anyone could PM me any hints on how to SAFELY get in without replacing the windscreen, it would be much appreaciated. I say 'Safely' because if i think i might damage my car in doing so, i will just wait for a new windscreen.

    Looking forward to any info
    Cheers

all well and good, but to open the bonnet you need to be able to open the doors to get to the lever.... (specially with stock air box)

thats why when i work on cars, and leave keys in the ignition i leave the windows down :), as u never know the surprise when remote locking comes active when u reconnect the battery... in hindsight u always think "man i should of left the window down" lol

    good luck mate :D

After reading this thread yesterday morning, it played in the grey matter for a few hours while I was at work.....

Just how hard would it be to break into a ZX ????

By the time I got home last night I had a few ideas to try out and went to the shed with keys in hand and every intention of proving that it wouldnt be so easy as the "30sec" originally posted .........

My first idea and attempt took me 3mins to gain access
 or :D .... I'm not sure which one as yet !
After refining my impliment a tad and a few more 'breakins', I got the time down to 1min&13secs......

    mmmmmmmmmmmm

    plan B

With a totally differant approach I gained access in 1min &8sec on my first attempt !
& again the tool I had chosen was all wrong in its shape and for want of a better word..."structure"....

A quick hunt around the shed gave me the perfect tool for the job, supprisingly it came from the rubbish bin and needed no mods to do the job

    I did 5 'breakins'.....
and my best time was 23secs with my worst being 37secs.
I'm sure with even more practice I could do this in under 20secs easily..... posiabily as low as 15secs

    NB:
my timing was taken from the moment I 'touched' the car to the moment I had the engine running, and I was being carefull so as not to 'damage' my car..... If I was a 'professional thief' I have no doubt in my mind that care wouldnt have been there and again quicker times would have resulted...... as much as a 5sec saving could be had with less or no care for the car !!!

How is it that a once very expensive "luxuary sports car" is so damn easy to enter.....

    Now the bad news.....
after my "car jacking" was over I went up to the house and sat down with a coffee...... about 5mins later I remembered I'd left the keys in the car.....

    along with the shed keys

& the shed was now locked

& all the 'tools' I need to breakin into the shed.... are in the shed

    oh phuck

    Hey Kingy,

You say your timing was from when you touched the car till when the engine was running...did you actually manually disable the alarm and immobiliser then hot wire it? Or just use your keys in which case you didnt need to break into your car :p

Just curious, if you did do it without keys then god help you poor Zedders :( (in which case I can see secret switches, flame throwing and ejector seat booby traps becoming the new fad for car security :p)

    Cheers!
