I'm keen, but I already have the Tein payment due around then. I will be up for a set at this price around end of March most likely :( . Btw, do these fit under stock front bars? DO you have to remove anything like the bottom shielding?

As far as i'm aware, there are no requirements to modify the stock front bar, but yes, you will need to remove the guard that attaches to the stock airbox. It's usually removed when a pod filter is installed anyway....

Oh and i forgot to mention that there is hardly ANY pressure drop in these intercoolers compared to conventional FMICs. As little as 0.2psi compared to an average of 2 - 4psi from conventional FMICs.

So having a pod filter that shield would be gone?

well i discard of them yes, tends to push more air into the filter, but not the very bottom sheild if that is the one u are talking about...

Do you have a picture of one of these installed behind a front bar Tom?

Would be great if you could find one.

Are there any significant performance improvements of this system over aftermarket SMIC's? What makes this a better choice over SMIC's

IMO, it's exactly the same as having SMIC (so better throttle response, less pressure loss) with the benefit of a FMIC in that it will get alot more air flow and cool better. It's the best of both world. :D

vbevan is on the money there....

They are like two side mounts stuck together but located at the front which will receive a bigger flow of air depending on your front bar. These are also better than conventional FMIC's as they don't throw the balance out between turbos.

This is the only FMIC I would purchase; but they are so hard to come across; It is for the reason you have said above that I would only choose this FMIC. Too often half the intercooler is being covered by the front bar, thus rendering it pretty much useless, at least with this setup the turbos will get an equal cooling efficiency.

I may be interested but what size is the piping? Also, would it fit with a doolz style intake or whatever it's called? Like the one in your pic, but the right way around. I really really don't like the design of the pod filter setup in that pic. I will have a doolz style intake with 2 rush pod filters and a Stillen GTZ front bar, any chance on finding out if these will fit?

I might sell my trust side mounts and get these.

The doolz should fit fine as the cooler angles forward and there is quite a bit of room behind. If I did have a doolz intake i'd try and fit it up and see but unfortunately i don't have one as of yet... I'll be making up my own 'doolz' style intake soon.

As for the cooler piping, I am yet to see it in the flesh but I have been told it is 2.5" not 2" and comes with the necessary couplers/reducers, etc.

So you're saying that they're better than after market SMIC's also? Depending on front bar?? - So I guess I'd need to know if I should change my mind to this type from aftermarket SMIC type based on a stock front bar? OEM front bar will provide better air flow to this over aftermarket SMIC's? I would think that this would almost surely kill the airflow to the rad itself - based on posted pics there doesn't appear to be much of any thru space available to the rad. Not trying to shoot down the product, I'm very new to the boost scene. I just like to be convinced of switching to this aftermarket IC over aftermarket SMIC's. I'm trying to rationalize the trade-offs here. Better air flow to FMIC vs potential higher coolant temps vs SMIC's.

I always found it funny that just after everyone did the GB on the FMIC a while ago there shortly followed a GB on Koyo radiaters. Probably wasn't related but still found it amusing ;P

I think most bars would provide more air to a FMIC as the air has less crap to move around. As for overheating, air will still travel through the FMIC to the radiator, it will just be warmer. Might help to get a thermal fan? Perhaps ZRATED can comment better on this though?

By definition you can't fit this legally in Vic

if it requires a dual pod setup (since that would mean modifying intercoolers and filter... which isn't allowed :(

Grrr.... sometimes i wish i still lived in NZ!

Correct me if i'm wrong but you don't have to do a dual pod setup:)
And do you think anyone would ever get in trouble for doing it? I'd like to think not.
